Our exploration of the Old Town Plaza will begin with coffee, tea and biscochitos on the balcony of our home, looking out over the original town square and historic San Felipe Church. We will overlook history as well, and gaze back from the Tewa people on who’s land Old Town was built, to life on the plaza during the Spanish, Mexican and American colonial periods.

Next we will undertake a walking tour of the plaza with a focus on the old adobe architecture and the stories associated with the buildings and smaller placitas that make up Old Town, using historical photos and visuals to support the information. This stroll will include secrets and lore unknown even to most Albuquerque residents, interaction with some of the "old timers" that live and work here, and pointers what to see and do and where to eat, tailored to the needs and interests of each group. Old Town is a valuable community resource and there are frequent impromptu happenings- quinceaneras, vintage car parades, etc. The tour will embrace these spontaneous events as they occur making the visit to Old Town even more vibrant and personal.

Finally, at the end of the tour experience, participants have the option of being served lunch at La Placita Dining Room in the Manuel Armijo House, one of the oldest structures on the Plaza, built in 1706.

Wow!! What a great experience. Greg is the unofficial ambassador for ABQ. The mayor should recognize him. His knowledge of Old Town and superb story telling skills were enchanting. He also inconvenienced himself to start my tour a bit later bc of my job. A huge warm thank you for Greg.

A highlight of our trip. Not just the tour, but Greg. He was so personable. He didn’t feel like a tour guide, he felt like a host. This wasn’t a job for him. He simply enjoyed showing us his home town. Not only was he knowledgeable about the structures but he was invested, he truly cared for them. The history of Old Town is worth learning. You’ll find out you’re not just shopping in a cute patio. You’re strolling through someone’s backyard from years ago. As someone visiting from out of state, we felt perfectly at home after this tour. Thank you, Greg, for an unforgettable stroll through Old Town!

Greg was an excellent host. The event began with historical story telling about the history of Albuquerque on the balcony with light treats. Then we toured the town buildings while Greg told of their beginnings and the changes in the structures over the decades. As we walked the town, people called out to Greg, who it seemed was well like in the area. He is a great story teller. He paused to see if our group has questions and answered them. He also had historical pictures to show the changes to the town. I would recommend this experience 100% to everyone.

Awesome tour! Best part was going up to the balcony and listening to Greg talk about history of Albuquerque while sipping on tea and eating biscochitos. You can look down onto the streets and hear the hubbub of old town plaza. Then you do a walking tour of the area to learn about the history, stories, and architecture. I was expecting it to be for 1.5 hrs but it took about 2 hrs. Greg is very knowledgeable and you can tell he loves giving these tours. Also provided some great tips for shopping/eating. He was very warm and knew many of the locals and greeted them while we walked the streets. If you have time I would definitely suggest taking the tour.

Our tour with Greg began with local prickly pear tea and cookies on his patio just above the plaza. He is so warm and welcoming and gives a great history of the area and its people. After a history introduction, we left on the walking tour to view many of the historic sites. It was fun and informative. We really enjoyed the tour.
