Into oza kuyenza

Minha Casa means ‘my home’ in Portuguese. A befitting name for a tour which pays homage to the East Indians community – their way of life, history and culture.

An island village neighbouring the erstwhile Mumbai Heptanesia, Bandra or Bandor as the Portuguese called it, was originally a collection of 24 villages inhabited by the Kolis or the fisherfollk community. In the 16th and 17th century many of these villages converted to Catholicism owing to the Portuguese rule. These converts were christened as East Indian by the British and form the backbone of Bandra’s cultural ethos. The years following independence, the paddy fields and vegetable plantations gave way to bungalows and apartments, of the rich and the famous which made Bandra the Beverly Hills of Mumbai. I love everything Mumbai - the culture, pop culture, history and the food, yes the food. You'd often find me devouring a vada pav (or two) as I walk you through Mumbai's little corners sharing endearing, hidden stories. I use my creative background in advertising to come up with walks and experiences that bring out the true nature of my beloved city, albeit in a fun manner.

I have had the opportunity to take imminent guests such as Nigella Lawson, Eric Roth, Peta Mathais, Harvard, Stanford and Wharton Business School to name a few. My love for travel encouraged me to start my labour of love, a travel company called No Footprints. Over the years, I have associated myself with like minded people who lead tours for us in my absence: they are fun, funny and equally passionate about Mumbai.
