Into oza kuyenza

Our tour will begin on the farm with a welcome drink. While relaxing in a shaded part of the farm, I will present our community movement and teach you about how we grow our organic produce. After enjoying the welcome drink, we will walk along the community farm and learn about organic farming and the unique UNESCO- protected Subak System in Bali. During the farm tour, we will pick the ingredients that we are going to use during the cooking class for a true farm to table cooking experience.

Once we arrive at the centre of the community, Mai Organic farm, we will drink a refreshing juice made with vegetables and fruit from our local farms. Following the drink, we will prepare six Balinese dishes, such as tuna sate and corn fritters. Students are able to participate as much or as little as they would like. We keep our class sizes small (max 8 people) to allow guests to be more involved in the cooking process and to provide better attention to each guest. After we finish cooking, we will teach you about our traditional offerings that we give to mother nature. Lastly, you will enjoy your meal in a tranquil gubuk (hut) with new friends from the tour.

By supporting Mai Organic Farm, you are supporting a community of local farmers from Pejeng. Our movement aims to support the local farmers' and villagers' income while providing them with resources to improve their quality of life.
Other things to note
Free transfer service from Ubud centre only. If guests are staying outside of Ubud centre, we can help arrange transportation for a fee.

Mai Organic is a community-led movement to preserve traditional and organic agricultural village life in Bali.

There is nothing more beautiful than “eating” a culture and trying to cook it! Join a traditional Balinese community and learn to cook some of the most famous Balinese dishes has been an incredible experience! But first… we have picked up the best ingredients in the vegetable garden of the farm for our meal. Later, I have tasted my creations, totally immersed in nature. It’s a true chance of having fun in a natural context which can satisfy both your body and soul.

I stumbled upon Mai Organic Farm’s IG for I’ve always wanted to have a real farm to table experience & I didn’t regret it. It was undoubtedly one of the best experience I’ve had in Ubud. As an avid foodie & aspiring gastronome, Bli Kadek and his team have very extensive knowledge in food & produce. They’re also very friendly & accomodating, which made me felt like home & felt like I’ve known them long time. Really look forward to come back hopefully to experience different things this farm has to offer

The cooking class with Bli Kadek was such a beautiful and unique experience! I was lucky enough to have the whole class to myself. We went to Mai Organic farm and picked all of the ingredients for the 8 Balinese dishes I then got to learn how to cook in the traditional way. Not only did I learn about how to prepare the dishes, but about the history of Balinese agriculture, culture and ethics of local farming. Mai Farm is really setting an example and involving local farmers to take their land and become more sustainable and forward thinking.

I had a wonderful day at the incredible countryside. This places from the family’s house, to the own lil garden, to the rice fields and (picking up the peanuts or papaya) to the main outdoor kitchen area and farm called Mai Organicfarm were just magical. So much love behind it. I learned a lot about the ingredients and the recipes and enjoyed it so much. Especially the funny personal stories of Dwika the young chef. I would highly recommend it. Last but not least... The Food was so fresh and super tasty. Yummy day!

This experience was a top experience on our six-day stay in Ubud. What a wonderful community initiative! Our host was a lovely young man - so sorry I've forgotten his name - who was passionate and you could tell he enjoyed working at the farm. He told us all about how Mai Organic Farm is encouraging younger generations to embrace the traditional Balinese cooking methods and rural way of life. It was so great to go through different areas of the farm (which is quite big!) and pick the ingredients which we then cooked with. Nona, the farm dog, is also a very friendly dog and was a welcome companion. We are both vegan and felt very catered to (well, we were the only ones doing the tour - Covid-19 made our Bali trip extremely quiet) and enjoyed a magnificent feast after feeling very involved in the cooking process. One of our best meals in Bali, if not the best meal - we left feeling very full and couldn't finish everything! Thank you so much for this experience. I highly recommend it to everyone.
