First, I'll welcome you with Japanese green tea. Then, I will write your name in Japanese calligraphy—I like to make memories of Japan that make visitors feel happy and welcome. Hospitality is at the heart of many Japanese people, so I will offer you gifts. Then we'll make teuchi udon—handmade noodles. Each country has its own noodles—for example, Italian pasta, Vietnamese pho, and so on. Japanese also have typical noodles—udon and soba are very popular. It's a real pleasure to make delicious udon noodles by hand. You will also learn about dashi—traditional soup stock for Japanese cuisine. Then it will be time to eat, followed by matcha—Japanese green tea.

Japanese homemade dishes are very healthy, well presented, and delicious. I want to share special recipes with you that I have inherited, which have served my family. These are very simple and easy to make in 30 to 50 minutes. I put special importance on the fact that you can make these dishes when you go back to your country. I also want to teach special recipes related to the seasons and to traditional events in Japan. See old rows of houses. Cook and eat local dishes. Experience traditional events. I hope you enjoy Japan and want to come back again soon.

I want you to see the streets with a lot of atmosphere in the Mukojima district of Tokyo. Mukojima is famous for its old downtown area where old rows of houses and other facilities offer entertainment served by geishas from the Edo-era. Mukojima is not really a very famous tourist destination like the Tokyo Skytree, but the place has interesting things to offer. It is a place where most residents are elderly and have a cat.

Masako’s home cooking class was such a great experience. The process was very collaborative and she helped us through each step. Everything we needed was included and Masako made us feel very at home, even leaving us with gifts before waving us off. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to learn more about homemade Japanese cuisine.

This was such a great experience and a gem in Tokyo while most events are cancelled due to the pandemic! Masako-san was kind and came to pick me up at the station! She prepared all the ingredients so that we could go through each step carefully. Listening to her stories was nice and she gave me many tips for cooking. I have had tempura many times in Japan as I live here. Today’s tempura was one of the best I’ve ever tried and I’d suggest foreigners who live here to try it at least once

We had a wonderful time learning to make a variety of traditional Japanese dishes. It was a great interactive experience and left with a further understanding of Japanese culture.

This was a fantastic experience! Highly recommended if you are a beginner to Japanese cooking or are looking for a hands-on lesson in making noodles. Cooking with Masako is like cooking with the grandmother you never knew you had. She is very kind and welcomes you openly into her home. Her class has a good pace, and you are nearly always hands-on with something, but not feeling rushed. She has a deep understanding of how to bring the ingredients together and I learned an enormous amount from her.

Fun and interesting experience making udon and tempura with Masako-san. Great experience in Tokyo! Can’t wait to make it again at home. Arigatou gozaimashita!

An all around amazing experience. We cooked tomago, tempura and udon and it was all beyond delicious. Masako is wonderful! She was so kind and friendly. She was very prompt in meeting us and so knowledgeable when it comes to cooking. She shared lovely stories of learning from her mother and we definitely felt like we left with more traditional cooking wisdom. I highly recommend taking a cooking class from Masako if you would like to feel welcomed in Japan, immersed in culture, and delectably full at the end of the night.
