Into oza kuyenza

We'll delve into the fascinating history, culture, and hidden gems of two of Mexico City's oldest and most charming neighborhoods: San Rafael and Santa María La Ribera. We'll visit the city's oldest ice cream shop, make quick stops at a pair of lesser known museums, sip mezcal at a contemporary art gallery, and admire the neighborhoods' eclectic architecture along the way—from Porfirian mansions to a 17th-century Baroque church to what remains of a magnificent Art Deco theater.

After refueling at a taquería that was once frequented by stars of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, we'll continue on to the heart of Santa María, home to historic cantinas, punk rock pulquerías, and the city's most surprising plaza.
Other things to note

I'm an art historian turned web developer with a passion for Mexican history and culture. I have a Master's degree in Latin American art history and have researched and curated exhibitions on modern Latin American art for museums including the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, and the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, TX. After years of spending all my vacation days traveling Mexico from Chiapas to Nuevo Leon, I moved to Mexico City two years ago, where I now dedicate my free time to exploring the city's endlessly fascinating neighborhoods, museums, and taquerías.

I've been living in Mexico City for two years now, and I've never seen some of the places Beth took us to. I loved that she included everything from tacos, to architecture, a modern art gallery, and a vintage furniture store. She had awesome stories and cool little details to tell us about a lot of places. Definitely a different and a very interesting and cool approach to the city.

Beth’s tour of two quintessential and historic CDMX neighborhoods was beyond wonderful. We went with our two children and they were surprisingly engaged for far longer than we expected. The stops were exciting and full of interest. The tacos were fun and different from what we’d been having. The entire experience left us feeling a deeper connection to the city and its people.

This is a must for people looking for a more local, less touristy experience. Beth showed us everything from a German-built museum that was brought to Mexico by boat, to an assortment of schools and tile-decked residences in mixed architectural styles you’d have a hard time finding anywhere else. After eating some of the best tacos I’ve had in my life, and learning about the area's history, we popped into a charming bookstore that’s hidden to the public and said goodbye at a gorgeous and surprisingly tourist-free kiosk. I’m excited for anything else Beth does on Airbnb experiences!

Una combinación de la arquitectura, el arte, la gastronomía y la historia de la colonia Santa María y san Rafael como nunca antes pensé ! Gracias Beth !!
