Into oza kuyenza

One of the best ways to explore Berlin is of course with a Berliner or with a tour guide. In this case you are lucky and you have both.
We start the experience in the alternative heart of Berlin-Kreuzberg, at the famous East- Side-Gallery. 21 different artist painted the longest piece of the Berlin Wall with a lot of emotions.
We'll talk about art, the Cold War period, why the Berlin Wall was built, and why the Berlin Wall fell so suddenly after 28 years.
During our time together you will experience contemporary history and enjoy this fascinating city from his local viewpoint and his warm hearted hospitality.
We walk along the Berlin Wall (1.3km) and reach a typical East German Restaurant. There we can choose different dishes and sweets and taste east German food.
By Dinner we'll have enough time to talk about the two different cultures out of two different political systems, problems that started after reunification, goods and bad's in East- and in West Germany. What have we lost and what have we won?
After our time in the restaurant we visit the Christmas market, because its X-mas time and have a glass of mulled wine.
Eventually then we end the Experience.

I grew up in West Berlin, when the Berlin Wall was still up. West Berlin was an Island in the communism, therefore we had an Island status and many extras in life. West Berlin was completely different to West Germany. In Berlin you felt free and individuell but we where also very blinded from the capitalist system. After the Berlin Wall fell, we moved to the country side of East Berlin and yes, life there was very backwards.
After 30 years of being reunified as a country, we as a people are still bearing the marks of the past.
I talk about the changes in the city, the Cold War, the history of the Berlin Wall, the characters in the east and west, and how reunification of Germany has worked out.

They really share their story about the differences of living in the east and west with you. Great pictures from family albums to support the stories and good locations.

WOW! This is a must-do in Berlin! If you like to understand more about how the Wall impacted the lives of all Germans from 1961 until even now, this is THE experience you should book. Personal stories from their youth but even just talking to both Valerie (Wessie) and Mareen (Ossie) makes clear that the Wall had and still has a deep cultural impact. Dive into it, you won't regret!
