Into oza kuyenza

Within a few hours, you will be able to construct your own pair of shoes (espadrilles in this case) by picking from a selection of leather in the studio (if you have your own material or would like to go the non-leather route, I will be happy to suggest alternative materials). From there, you can decide on a style you would like to pick then cut and stitch your own pair of shoes onto the soles provided (made out of jute and rubber (so it will be slip free). The types of style you get to make are the mule, sandal or slip-on as shown in the images*.

I have collected leather from various sources, mostly reclaimed from different projects to offcuts from manufacturers. While stitching your shoes, we can either chat or indulge in the refreshments provided.

The timing of the experience is just indicative, you can stay as along as you need to finish your shoes and also, the start time is flexible

*Note: If there are other styles of shoes you would like to make like the full shoe or sneaker style, there will be additional charges as it requires more time to create the item.
Other things to note
After booking, send me your shoe size (EU or UK). You can send me your foot measurements as well if you are unsure of the sizes.

My name is Lisa from Lisa Teng Studios. During the past few years, I studied Footwear Design and Making in London, UK. Moving back to tropical Singapore, I worked with a maker space and started running my own company, taking on customisation orders for small leather products and making more footwear (shoe) for customers and running experiences (workshops). I enjoy forming new ideas by combining traditional and modern techniques and creating new products for short workshops such as making espadrilles (plus more products coming up!). Plus, I like conversing with participants, bouncing ideas.

Time well spent learning what is involved in shoe making as well as a little history about what you are doing. Best thing of all is the fantastic new shoes you go home with. Lisa is a wonderful host, making you feel right at home during the class. Would do it again. Have my eye on some other styles. Thanks Lisa.

Wow!! This is a must-do in Singapore. I was there with a friend for 6 days. This was the most personal, unique, and fun AirBnb experience I could imagine. Lisa was so kind, helpful, and made sure we all left with a perfect pair of new shoes. Well worth the price of the class because I would’ve bought a similar pair for double the price of the class. 10/10 recommend. Would do it again if I return to Singapore. Provided amazing cookies and tea, and even helped us arrange a taxi home. Can’t say enough great things.

lisa’s class was fun, empowering & cathartic! due to sensitive feet and discerning taste, it was so great to be able to make my own shoes from start to finish. i loved using reclaimed materials, hand cutting & stitching a beautiful shoe i made all on my own. she provided really nice japanese pastry as a snack, patient & kind instruction, and great recs on what to do and where to eat in singapore (thanks for the natureland rec btw!). i would very gladly take this class again to make more shoes to add to my wardrobe in colors difficult to find. it was a wonderful way to spend my birthday :) thank you!

Lisa is extremely knowledgeable about her craft. She is excellent at explaining each of the steps. We had a great experience. She even provided us information on where to eat and what to see while we were in Singapore.

Got this experience for my friend for Christmas, she enjoyed it very much and said Lisa was very warm and kind. Lisa was also very nice to allow me to book and pass this on as a gift!
