Into oza kuyenza

The Beehive tour welcomes all foodies, gardeners, adventurers, future beekeepers and anyone who is curious to experience the wonderful world of bees. We’ll start out with a brief introduction to beekeeping before suiting up in protective gear for a hands-on apiary (where the bees are kept) tour where you will see the inner workings of the hives. You will light a bee smoker to help calm the 100,000+ bees buzzing around. Once we are in the apiary, you will notice how the honey bees are docile and focused on working on their daily tasks to keep their colony thriving. You will be able to feed the bees some honey for an up close look at their adorable anatomy. By the end of the tour, you will have a better understanding of beekeeping as well as how honey is made by these tiny yet powerful creatures that work so hard to sweeten our lives and so much more.

Please note that this experience is weather dependent. If it rains or if it’s cooler than 75 degrees, we will have to reschedule.

Five honey bee swarms found their home in my olive trees and I realized they needed my help. I learned all about these industrious little animals with insane skills which amazed me and I fell in love. I call them my Olivewood Bees.
I am a passionate beekeeper and an ambassador for the honey bee. I come from over a decade of representing some of the most well known brands and websites. Now it’s an honor to represent these incredible little creatures that do so much for us.

The beehive tour was a fantastic experience! We learned a lot about the wonderful, amazing lives of bees — how hardworking they are, how incredibly systematic and family-oriented they are, and how essential bees are to the world. Lia was very warm, kind, and full of cool information. She was a pleasure to have as our host and allowed us to experience how it is to be a beekeeper (if only for a little while). We got to seethe Queen Bee in the hive! It was great and this experience is highly recommended. 🐝🐝

This such a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. The energy of the bees is exciting. Lia was so sweet. She made sure we were properly protected and taught us how to BEE. She had great insight on the democracy of bees and I felt like I was experiencing something very special with a friend. Highly Recommend!

WOW! What a magical experience! I never knew about the secret lives of bees and now I'm hooked. Lia was a warm, knowledgeable, and fun host! We couldn't have had a better time. This is truly a unique and amazing Airbnb experience and I highly recommend it!

What a wonderful way to spend a morning! I went into this excited to be near some honeybees and left feeling so much more appreciation and with so much more knowledge of nature's busiest engineers. Such a fun experience to have with friends! This is a must do if you're in the LA area. Lia welcomed us to her amazing home with cold water and tea (sweetened with her own honey!) and we got to enjoy a unique view of LA's valley as she walked us through the amazing lives of honeybees and their current state in the US. Lia was friendly, super engaging and we were all hooked on the cool bee facts she shared with us. I felt closer to our gentle, furry friends even before we put on our suits and veils. Once we were suited up, we were guided to her honeybees and had a lovely interaction as we got to observe them building their nests, feeding their queens and just flying and buzzing around like the cuties they are! We had so much fun on this unique experience and I can't recommend it enough.

This was my girlfriend and I’s first time visiting an Apiary, and Lia made it a wonderful and truly memorable experience! After doing a breathing exercise and getting to sit near the bees, we were able to comfortably and calmly be immersed into their world, meet some of the queens, and even see a baby being born! Do yourself a favor and visit Olivewood Bees!!!!

Book it! Truly magical and unique. My sister is an insect ecologist, and I don’t know anything about insects—it was a perfect experience for both of us! And Lia is one of the most likable people I’ve ever met. She’s really funny, and cares very much about what she’s doing. I didn’t know I could be emotionally moved by bees! ❤️
