Join my cooking class and learn how to prepare Belgian Classics.
Ingredients will already be bought at a local shop or market.

The cooking class will take place in a homely atmosphere with a welcome drink.
The dishes we'll prepare will depend of the availability in the season.
For example: no asparagus during Winter or no deer in Summer
Together we’ll clean and prepare alle what needs to be done for the dishes.

Enjoy our meal with a local beer or a glass of wine.

Hours and dates can be FLEXIBLE, let me know which date or time you prefer and I can adapt the schedule for you. SOLO travellers are very welcome! No problem at all. A vegan option is always available, let me know in forehand.

My first passion is to cook, read about food & beer and discover new flavors by traveling. This resulted in achieving a Masterclass certificate in Beer & food pairing.

When buying the ingredients I avoid supermarkets and buy seasonal and local ingredients at local markets and local specialized shops.

My second passion is welcoming people, explaining the background and history of traditionnal dishes.

Together with my co-host Iria, weI have been hosting students from abroad for 30 years. Cooking for them and sharing our knowledge of food helped us in refining typical Belgian dishes and in explaining its history.

Since 2012, more than 1000 students, travelers and expats from all over the world joined one of our cooking classes or candlelight suppers of Belgian traditional dishes, prepared with love!

Wonderful experience glad I did it, I was welcomed in Elsie and Iria 's lovely apartment and Iria's friendliness made us all relaxed and feel like home. I registered alone, but another couple came along and we had great fun altogether. We prepared many things, mayonnaise, Filet américain, amazing french fries and with the vol-au-vent as the main one, oh that stock(bouillon) made the house smell awesome. As an inexperienced in cooking, I learned a lot, specially how to cut things properly thanks for the tip Iria :). Everything was super, from the warm host to the other guests to the actual food itself. A highly recommended experience to meet other people, converse, have fun and also to learn something.

Its a lovely experience learning to cook a classic Belgian dish with Elsie and Iria. Iria welcomed us to her home warmly and teaching me some cooking technique patiently. As I am gluten free, they also accommodated my dietary needs with changing the menu , we made the classic dish chicken "waterzooi " together under the guidance from Iria, and while waiting for the soup to boil, we get to make and enjoy some simple appetiser "tartine platte kass" and enjoy it with our choice of drinks ( some Belgium beer for my non gluten free classmates .. and I had a tea) . At the meantime, Iria also introduce to us some other classic dishes and tradition in Belgium and are very open for us to ask any questions. Elsie joined us later in the morning with lovely conversations, and then we sat down and enjoy the delicious dishes that we made with some wine. Iria also served us some vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and pannacotta that she made herself as a dessert after the meal ! They are both such sweetened caring ladies and I couldn't ask for a better way to spend a morning in Brussel . Highly recommended experience ◡̈ !!

This was a very special experience. Iria welcomed me and my girlfriend right at the door step and from that moment till the time we had departed, she was just more than any ordinary Airbnb host. She was exceptionally knowledgeable, kind and caring. She helped us prepare Vol au Vent, Stoemp and Plattekaas, during the preparation she had elobarted all the science and logic behind the cuisine, which was extra special! We had had a great time at her place and look forward to visiting her again. I highly recommend her place; we were indeed very lucky to have had experienced that!

Elsie and Iria were amazing warm hosts and great teachers. Iria taught us some important and nifty hacks while cooking . The dishes we made were really exotic and tasted absolutely delicious. We made belgium toast with fresh cream topped radish and spring onions, tomatoes with grey shrimps, belgium fries , mayonaisse, coucous and the best part was the absolutely lipsmacking , fresh and tasty Dorlla fish fried on a tempentaki. The whole vibe and atmosphere was just lovely and my boyfriend and me had good fun. Would deifnately recommend this class to all the experimental foodies out there who are eager to learn something new and explore different cuisines.
