Into oza kuyenza

We will meet at Hazelbank Park, Newtownabbey, to view the stunning panoramic of Belfast Lough, I will talk through the history and re-invention. of the Lough including its connection to aviation, past time ships on the Lough and today's boats and ships who still make their living on the Lough.

While walking along the sea, we will reflect upon how the Lough has and is today still used for many uses.

We will then walk along the beach to the old coal pier and take a look at the two ship wrecks that can be seen at low tide, we will discover what they were and why their work was significant. We will view the remains of the old railway cottages and station and consider the significance of the area to the linen and rope trade, before hearing about the history of the Coastguards and the smugglers on the Lough.

We conclude with a view of the Coastguard Boat House (and a spooky Halloween surprise.!)

Join us on our voyage of discovery.
