Into oza kuyenza

We'll meet at Kichijōji station and shop for your cloth at a fabric store. Then we take a bus to my place. Then I'll teach you how to sew your very own Japanese cushion. Nowadays, most cushions are made by machine, but I'll demonstrate the traditional method for our prized floor cushions–sewing a cover by hand using cotton layered with silk.
This method has only been conveyed to my family ! I also make Ma-wata (raw Silk) ,which is processed through
boiling , eviscerating ,dry and spreading , from Japanese cocoons !
My place is a typical Japanese apartment and I show you a typical Japanese life style.
Other things to note
You will buy your own cushion cloth and bus fare. The bus ride is 15 minutes; the walk is 10. I live on the fourth floor in a building without an elevator. Make sure you are comfortable with stairs.

Oh my gosh! Where do I begin? This was an amazing experience with an amazing person! Akiko is so sweet and welcoming! As mentioned in the description, we started off by shopping for fabric that we would use for the pillow--there happened to be a sale when I went so I bought more so that I can make another one at home later. She was very patient and helped me when I had trouble. Everything is sewn by hand and she she was very encouraging throughout the activity. She prepared tea and taught me how to make takoyaki, and we shared a meal together! It was a very memorable experience. I hope to meet you again someday~ Happy New Year!

This experience was so enjoyable! Akiko was very hospitable and friendly right from the moment when she picked me up from the station. Each bit of the experience was wonderful from shopping and choosing the cloth for the cushion to walking around the neighbourhood and learning more about the local culture. Although I'm new to sewing and did not feel confident holding a needle, Akiko was so patient and guided me step by step. It was really enjoyable and I'm now a proud owner of a beautiful cushion- such a treasured souvenir to return home with! What really stood out for me was Akiko's hospitality and how she made me feel at home. She provided me with delicious refreshments and a very lovely homecooked meal. I also appreciated how she brought me to see the cherry blossoms on our way back to the bus station. Thank you Akiko for such a beautiful experience! I highly recommend this experience and hope to attend more of your classes if I do visit Tokyo again!

We had a wonderful time with Akiko, she's a very friendly and charming host. We are very grateful that she allowed us to share time with her on her home. As well as the activities described there was a lot of conversation and cultural exchange. After guiding us through the process of making our cushion she served some delicious traditional Japanese food. If you are looking for an insightful and authentic Japanese experience Akiko is highly recommended.
