I learned to wear kimonos as a child from my parents, who are dressing teachers. But since wearing kimonos can be difficult, I always thought about ways to change the practice, in order to make kimono-wearing easier for people. After studying Japanese Embroidery at an art college, I created a kimono-remaking ceremony, and have been selling my work online for over three years.

This was a very fun and unique experience to take part in as you not only wear the kimono, but are actively taking part in customising it and tailoring it to your preferences! I would recommend it for people who like crafting and sewing and for those who have a lot of time in their schedule as it may take a while to complete. Mio was a very lovely host and was very knowledgeable about kimono and what styles went well together. Although we started half an hour late, Mio was kind enough to also give a small gift as a courtesy which was very nice!

The experience was once in a lifetime for my sisters and I. Having to customize our own kimono made the experience more meaningful. We will treasure our kimonos for years to come. It turned out beautiful. Thank you Mio!

I am glad I took this AirBnb experience because now I can remake any kimono into an easier-to-wear two-piece kimono. I've seen several kimono shops taking orders to remake traditional one-piece kimonos into two-piece garments and the remaking costs a lot. Mio san teaches you how to do that on your own (which is surprisingly easy!) and also shows you how to wear the complete two-piece kimono. She is a calm person who explains how to cut, sew, and put together the kimono in a gentle, easy-to-understand manner. You do have to purchase the obi belt separately, but she carries a lot of ready-made ones she made that you can just simply tie around and be done with it. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to own and wear a kimono!

My Mother and I visited Mio and made our Kimono together with her help & guidance. Mik was is so lovely and has such a wide range of Kimono to choose from. She showed us how to put them on and wear them properly. My Mother and I absolutely loved this experience.
