For me cycling is the most fun and ecological way to get to know a new place that’s why i organize cultural and historical tours in the first city of the new world, the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. I have more than 4 years promoting urban cycling in my country and also working since 2016 at Zona Bici bike Rental. I am a very proactive, social person and love to share my passion for cycling and my city.

This is a great introduction to the city. Alan did a fine job pointing out different things and their history. Bikes are in good shape and even get a coffee (or water) at the end!

I took this tour with Luis and I was not disappointed! This is a unique/fun way to hit a lot of important historical sites while getting a light workout in as well (casual bike ride, nothing intense). Luis was very knowledgeable on the history of the city and was able to answer all questions I had. There were lots of great photo opportunities and we even visited a spot I did not think would be apart of the tour and had planned to visit another day. Definitely worth it!

My first Airbnb Experience and an AMAZING one at that! My partner and I made a very short visit to Santo Domingo (2 days) and we wanted to visit a museum or take a tour to learn more about Zona Colonial and its history. We were pressed for time and, since it was the middle of August and pretty hot, weren't too excited at the thought of spending a lot of time indoors, so when I saw this bike tour it seemed like the perfect solution for us! We signed up for the first tour the next morning, starting at 9am and, not surprisingly (due to COVID), we were the only ones on the tour. The bike shop (tour meeting place) was super easy to find and the process was a breeze. The only thing that took us for surprise was that we could not find Carlos when the bike shop opened. But, as it turned out, our guide for the tour that day was actually another gentleman from the bike shop, Luis, and he was AWESOME! (So have no fear if you are not paired with Carlos for your tour.) Luis was super nice and helpful and taught us a lot about the history of the various buildings, parks, and sights along the tour. Again, because there were only the two of us on the tour, and early in the morning, the ride felt really special and little less touristy (which I loved) because we weren't taking up the public spaces in a massive squad of bicycles. There were plenty of photo opportunities. Luis politely asked us after each stop if we wanted to take pictures and never rushed us to the next sight. What this tour is NOT is a super detailed tour by a historian. However, Luis had a good grasp on the history of each location/building and definitely provided the modern-day, local perspective, knowledge and experience of the area - like going on a bike ride with a knowledgeable friend we were visiting in Santo Domingo. Luis broke everything down in plain English and his descriptions were short and sweet to keep things moving. The history is super interesting, so we naturally had some detailed follow up questions ("why (not)" this or that and "how did ...") that ended up stumping Luis, but he handled it with grace and honesty and said he would have to go read up on it for next time. This is all to say that this is a great tour to get your feet wet to the history of Zona Colonial and get a bit of exercise too! If you are a history buff or crave deeper knowledge, this tour is still worth it as an introduction and fun activity considering the price, entertainment value, and how quickly you get around to all the amazing sights, fortresses, buildings, parks, and museums that are definitely worth revisiting for more history, photos, souvenirs, etc. And then when we were completely satisfied, there was the free coffee at the end of the tour.....Thanks Carlos and Luis for an incredible experience!

Great experience, well worth it to get to know the area. Everyone was so friendly and the shop is a great spot to relax with a beer or coffee. Highly recommend this
