This property is a fabulous retreat at any time of the year. The lodge boasts a comfy sofa, a wood burner, a designer kitchen and inviting bedrooms alongside beautiful décor throughout. Matlock Bath is very close by and is located in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, 1 mile from Matlock, surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs. It developed as a spa town in the 1800s and is also famous for its connections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade, often being referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. Today Matlock Bath offers a selection of pubs and shops, Arkwright’s Cromford Mill, a World Heritage Site, and Venetian Nights during September and October, which feature decorated and illuminated boats floating along the river. The village boasts a plethora of attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom, the Peak District Mining Museum or you can enjoy a ride on the Heights of Abraham cable car where you can take in the views in style. In and around Matlock itself, you will find a vast array of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and antique shops. Being situated on the border of Matlock and Matlock Bath, there is direct access from the property to walking trails including the Limestone Way. The splendid Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the National Tramway Museum at Crich are close by, or take advantage of the good walking around the Derwent Valley and White Peak.
