Villa Pedretti is an old historical country house surrounded by a large garden at the foot of Parma hills. The neighbouring area is one of the most charming in Parma, where you can feast your eyes and mouth on art, landscape and fine food.

Indawo
The two-storey stone building with a distinctive square tower is the core building of a rural courtyard still recognisable today. Its architecture and materials have been carefully preserved.
We offer a 400 m2 apartment, located on the top floor, composed of a vast south-facing living room, a dining room with a big fireplace, a lounge, bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. The ensemble creates an atmosphere of hospitality and taste in tune with the welcoming tradition of the house.
In the basement there is a winery which is still used nowadays to produce and store our wine, which you can taste and buy. In fact, in addition to the garden, ideal for relaxation, the mansion also has a small vineyard and an orchard.

SOME HISTORY
The construction dates back to the end of the 16th century, as shown by the architectural details typical of the rural stately style of the period. The house has always been connected to the surrounding agricultural property and has changed hands until our family acquired it in the mid-19th century.
It has traditionally hosted personalities of Parma’s political and cultural scene. During World War II it was a home and refuge to the Partisans, thus becoming a local hub for anti-fascism and the Resistance.

Bannone di Traversetolo, Parma, Italy

On the border between the flatlands and the hills, Villa Pedretti’s ideal location offers endless opportunities to visit places of interest and taste excellent food. The beautiful Fondazione Magnani Rocca museum is at a stone’s throw: this well-kept secret boasts extraordinary pieces of Italian and European art history and organises very interesting temporary exhibitions. A few kilometres away, Torrechiara castle is one of the most beautiful examples of 15th-century defensive and stately architecture in Italy. On the Eastern bank of the Enza River (15 km) we find the fortresses of Canossa and Rossena, the heart of the lands of Matilda, the powerful medieval countess who humiliated Emperor Henry IV. The gentle and uneven hills outline a rural landscape that produces gourmet food: right from Felino salami and Langhirano prosciutto up to Parmigiano-Reggiano factories, all within a few kilometres. You can visit dedicated museums, enjoy these products in the typical trattorie and buy them from producers or at the Sunday market in Traversetolo (2 km). The Boschi di Carrega Regional Park (20 km) is one of the last stretches of the forest that once covered the Po Valley and shelters roe deer and 18th-century villas. A little further, Parco del Taro is a bird sanctuary with international appeal.

Ciao sono Gian Domenico, sono architetto e questa casa è della nostra famiglia da decenni. Mi piace viaggiare, leggere, andare in bicicletta e in montagna.
