My place is high up Rams Horn mountain. Surrounded by open space, it is quiet, peaceful, with abundant wildlife & incredible views of Rocky Mountain National Park. Nearby trails access the extensive park trail system. Below, across Aspenbrook, is the YMCA of the Rockies. with Down route 66 are restaurants, entrance to the park. During summer, a shuttle bus connects YMCA to the park hikers shuttle and downtown EP. This room has private entrance and shares bathroom with owner. A car is required.

This property provides one of the best views in Estes Park of the high mountains of the continental divide in Rocky Mountain National Park. The drive to the home is steep but wide and very well maintained, with several switchbacks. Do not rent if you have a fear of heights.

The neighborhood is a community of homes spread out with abundant open space on the steep south-western slope of Rams Horn mountain. It is peaceful and quiet. A perfect place to relax and view the high peaks of the continental divide from your bedroom or watch the abundant wildlife from the patio. The roads are well maintained and frequently plowed during winter. Roads are safe and smooth for walking within the Windcliff community. Trails into Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) start from the community. Trail heads to Rams Horn and Lily peaks (1/2 mile), Aspenbrook trail (1 mile) to Lily Lake, Storm Pass and Estes Cone. The Wind River and Sprague Lake trails start from the east portal lake at the end of Tunnel Road (2.5 miles). The YMCA of the Rockies (2 miles) has swimming pool and gym. The excellent Dunraven and Bird and Jim's restaurants are a bit further. The town of Estes Park (6 miles) has touristy shops, restaurants, outdoor and indoor concerts and hosts other cultural events at the fairgrounds and Stanley Hotel.
The Beaver Park entrance to RMNP is about twelve miles. From there you may take a road trip over the continental divide on Trail Ridge Road (closed in winter and spring) and further to the larger lakes (Grand, Shadow, and Granby) at the source of the Colorado River. Enjoy the vistas from your car or hike the extensive RMNP trail system.

I am retired and this home is my permanent residence.
I have been a university professor (Economics, with degrees from University of Maryland and Northwestern University), consultant on industrial applications of artificial intelligence, and, recently, a Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan and Armenia and instructor at the American University of Central Asia. I am currently writing a book about development in the former states of the Soviet Union.
I love hiking, climbing, skiing (alpine and Nordic) and snow shoeing in the Front Range and National Park mountains. I also enjoy, very much, the abundant nature and wildlife surrounding my home. I can speak a little Kyrgyz and Russian. I have children living in Korea, Kentucky, and Arizona. I also have strong ties to my host family in Kyrgyzstan. I value my connections to people around the world.

A more complete cooked breakfast eggs, pancakes, waffles is available under a self served basis. The owner has extensive knowledge of the area and can provide guided trips if desired in addition to information about the area, access to the park, live cultural events and concerts, and recreational activities such as cross country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking, and mountaineering.
