The Free to Wander Bus (Frieda for short) is a place for you to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with nature & Mother Earth. Frieda has travelled across Canada to celebrate Canada 150 and has experienced many other adventures!

Frieda is a home that is filled with love. Every inch of this 8ft X 25ft space has been carefully designed and decorated to make you feel relaxed, comfortable and wholesome!

We have listed Frieda on Air BNB so you have the chance to experience the bus!

Indawo
About Frieda:

Frieda was built by both myself and Jacob. We reused wood from falling down barns, renovations in previous homes and scraps from woodworkers. All other materials were purchased second hand or made by ourselves to add authenticity and to be as eco-friendly as possible during the building process.

The kitchen - offers a sink, faucet, drying rack and running water for washing dishes or hands. Drawers and extra storage space are available for guests to store their goods and personal possessions. There is also a lot of counter space to prep meals.

The living room - a three seater built in couch is available for anyone to curl up and read a book or even spend the night on. Lots of blankets underneath in storage for guest's comfy needs.

The eating area - a small table is built into the bus' frame for people to enjoy a meal at. Two stools are stored underneath for seating.

The bedroom - a double bed is tucked away at the back of the bus. Lots of blankets, pillows, and throws are freshly washed and available for guests. The space is decorated with plants, baskets, and pictures to create a nice calming space for people to get some rest.

The location - Frieda is parked on a small homestead that is surrounded by hundreds of trees. Whether it be Spring, Summer, or Fall, this location offers spectacular scenery, wildlife, and fresh country air. There is a lot of privacy at this location however, you may see some of our animals whether that be our dogs, cats, chickens, or even pigs!

The stay at The Free to Wander Bus is meant to reset your natural system by surrounding yourself by nature and disconnecting from the fast-paced society.

Ukungena kondwendwe
Guests have access to hand-built outhouse that is located outside of the bus. (Photos to come in the Spring)

There is an extension cord in the bus that offers three outlets. We suggest not using all three outlets at the same time.

Running water for washing hands or dishes is available on the bus.

There is an outdoor kitchen attached to the bus for all of your cooking needs. (Photos to come in the Spring)

Location - Guests are 15 minutes away from the village of Wakefield. Wakefield is located on the Gatineau River. Canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, walks, hikes, spas, yoga classes, and more are all available in Wakefield. There are also several bakeries, restaurants, organic farms, a fresh spring, shopping, and more available.

On our property, you also have access to 21 acres of forested land to walk around and explore. If you enjoy mushroom hunting, tree identifying, bird watching etc. this is the place for you!

Ezinye izinto ekufuneka uziqaphele
Please note: Frieda is parked in the middle of the forest. Things like bugs, wildlife, etc. are very much present during your stay. Please be prepared and pack bug spray.

Please note: our dogs are vocal. Spirit - the Great Pyrenees, is a guardian dog. She protects her home, her property, her people, and her animals. She is VERY kind, just loud :)

Indawo

La Pêche, Quebec, Canada

The road on which Frieda is located is only populated by a small number of homes. When you drive up our laneway, you will notice a long shed with a red roof on the left-hand side. This is not owned by us so please do not trespass onto that property. Otherwise, you are welcome to walk our property, the forest, the main road etc.

There are two organic farms (Roots and Shoots Farm & Juniper Farm) located 10 minutes away from our location. And of course, the town of Wakefield is located 15 minutes away.

Hi! My name is Tessa. Both my husband (Jacob), myself, and our son Ochre are so excited to meet you! We are a small but growing family who live on a little homestead in Rupert, QC. Jacob and I are both young entrepreneurs/artists who are constantly inspired by Mother Earth. Jacob is a carpenter and I own two businesses - Zola Handmade Goods - handmade items such as Linen Clothing, Macrame, Mud Cloth textiles etc. & Zola Finds - a pre-loved shop that offers pieces for the Grown, Youth and Home. We are a family who live an Earth-friendly lifestyle, we surround ourselves with animals and gardens and we are always open to meeting new people. We hope to see you soon at the Free to Wander Bus!
