Jispa, Himachal Pradesh, India

The property is on the main Manali-Leh highway. Gemoor village is located about 5 kms before Jispa, and is smaller and quieter. There are a few shops around, but other than that there are few distractions.

Gemoor does make for a good base for several walks around the Jispa valley. From the Gemoor Khar property, the old Gemoor gompa (Buddhist monastery and temple) is 15 minute uphill walk. From there, it is possible to walk to Khangsar (6-7 kms) which was the seat of the local ruling family till the 1980s. All along you can see great views towards Jispa, Keylong, and the valley.

Other walks from the Khar, are to the Mangala rocks near the river where it is possible to see ancient rock engravings. For the more adventurous, there are trails of the indigenous Gaddi sheep nomads who roam the mountains in the summer months.
