This 2 bedroom villa is a perfect base for summer and winter holidays. Situated at the foothill of the picturesque village of Casares, Bahia de Casares is a quiet residential develoment overlooking the Mediterranean. It is a short walk to the nearest beach, and 15 mins from the nearest hiking spots.
The charming split level house designed by renowned architect Aubrey David boasts traditional Andalusian feaures as well as plenty of outdoor space and coastal views.

Couples and families welcomed!

With years of experience in holiday lettings, your host has thought of every attention to detail in order to welcome you and provide everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay on this lovely part of the coast.

The signature design of renowned architect Aubrey David comes to life with the home’s large open plan spaces, arches, high ceilings, terracotta flooring, tastefully decorated whitewashed walls and views from each room to either the garden, the patio or across the Mediterranean to the African coastline.

On the ground floor, there is a large central open plan living space, with on one side a dining area, and on the other a seating area with sofas, armchairs, and a feature fireplace. The living room opens onto a split level room equipped with bunk beds ( x2), then the sea facing terrace. Note that the bunk beds are not in an enclosed room; the beds are suitable for children, not adults.

The living room is equipped with satellite television, wifi and radio.

The kitchen (also on the ground floor) is fully equipped to cook your meals at home and try out your chef skills in making Spanish recipes that your host can happily recommend! There are really good markets nearby offering a variety of fresh local produce, a real treat for the foodies!

The ground floor also includes a shower and toilet, and a spare room with two single beds that could also be used as a siesta room, or for storage.

The master bedroom located on the first floor is bright and airy; it has access to a sea-view balcony as well as the garden. There is plenty of storage with a built-in wardrobe and drawers, a mirror and even a cot. The tiled en-suite bathroom is fully equipped with hairdryer, towels, soap etc.

The choice of outdoor space is yours! The large patio has a typical Spanish feel with its lemon tree planters and tiled decor, it faces the lush gardens of the residence and is a perfect spot for those late summer evenings; there is ample seating, a large dining table and a built-in barbecue.

On the other side of the house, the sea facing terrace is equipped with dining table and chairs, shade from the sun, a grassed area and unrivalled vistas of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and the coast of Morocco.

Casares, Andalucía, Spain

Bahia de Casares is renowned for its exclusive location. Based between mountain and sea, the residence was built on elevated land 200m from the beach. The urbanisation is not a holiday complex. It houses both long-term residents and holiday-makers. It’s a very friendly community welcoming all nationalities and people from all backgrounds. Although not gated, it’s a private community, and is therefore safe, quiet and tranquil.

On a practical note, if for example you prefer not to drive, there is a beautiful beach with a Chiringuito only 10 mins walk away, as well as a shop for basic provisions. The urbanisation is backed by landscaped gardens perched on a hill that includes a playground for families.

The nearest urban areas are the picturesque town of Estepona (a 15 minute drive) and even closer (5 mins drive), Sabinillas de San Luis, which meets all your holiday needs. There are shops and supermarkets; on certain days traditional markets selling a wide variety of typical Andalucian foods; plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars; a beach front paseo that begins at the foothill of the residence (perfect for walks and cycle rides), and is dotted with beach chiringuitos for the adults, and plenty of beach activities for children (in summer season there are also lifeguards, red cross, toilets and fresh water showers.) The beach is also the location for traditional fiestas at certain times of the year – expect a party.

For those who prefer more inland-based activities, the mountain range that flanks our area makes Bahia de Casares an ideal base for hiking, cycling, climbing and plunging into river pools. In fact, most people think of this part of Spain as a beach–centred holiday destination, and in the summer of course, it is, but with the mountain ranges running right up to the coast, the area is perfect for all year round adventuring and holiday fun.

From the Casares road leading inland, you can discover a multitude of white-washed traditional Andalucian villages (the famous Pueblo Blancos), some of them regarded as open air museums in themselves, offering insights into local crafts and traditions. The nearest village is Casares, a 20 minute drive through scenic mountain views, passing many ‘ventas’ - restaurants offering delicious homemade food – and then revealing itself as a very pretty Pueblo Blanco perched on the side of the mountain, with incredible views over the coast and the med. Sunset in Casares is one of the most beautiful scenes you could wish for on your holiday here.

And of course, for those who fancy travelling further afield, to the east we’re 1 hour away from the city of Malaga, and 40 mins from Marbella; to the west, Gibraltar is a 30 min drive, and the coast of Cadiz with golden sand beaches and surfing activities is 1 hour away. Perfect destinations for day trips. You could even take the ferry to Tangiers in Morocco, and still be back in the evening to relax on the patio and plan the next days adventure.

You will find that a week is not enough to discover the wonders of the area, and yet equally, if lounging by the beach is your thing there is no lack of sandy stretches nearby – there’s even someone to bring you a pina colada to your sunbed if things start getting a bit too stressful.

I have discovered great places and had some of my best experiences travelling as a guest through Airbnb, and so my motto when co-hosting Guests here in Spain, is simply treat your guests as you would treat your friends, and as how I’d like to be welcomed when arriving somewhere new! It starts with getting the basics right. Travelling begins before you get on the plane, and so I always like to get to know my future guests from the time they book so that I can provide a more custom made service, prepare everything needed for their comfort, assist with their planning and offer my insider knowledge according to their personal interests. I feel very lucky to be living in such a wonderful place as Andalusia. I moved here in 2016, and since then have been exploring the region to gradually build my own “travel guide”. The Costa del Sol is well known for its year around sun and beach life, but it doesn’t stop there! As a nature lover for me the best part is adventuring inland, the national parks flanking the coast offer a multitude of outdoor and nature activities, from walking, climbing, bird watching to river swimming and kayaking. I love living in this part of Spain because, for those like me who like to find places of solace, and ways of exploring our natural environment, the opportunities to discover, play and contemplate are endless! I am a qualified Yoga for Health teacher, movement artist and photographer, and so I am always happy to meet and share my passion with other like-minded people! Saying this I completely understand that sometimes all you want is to chill on a beach and read a good book, and so I have made it my own personal (tough) job to recce the sandy stretches from Marbella to the Costa de la Luz to select the best beaches; I love swimming, will have a go at surfing; I am a foodie, and rarely refuse a nice glass of wine. So whether you are after family friendly beaches, water based activities, wilder sandy spots, a good meal or cocktail lounging by a beach chiringuito just ask me! I can definitely say that I belong to that group of people who will have researched everything that is to be seen and experienced before I travel - landmarks, museums, culinary treasures you name it - I am also a bit of history buff, but find that most of the time I leave all knowledge behind and prefer going with the flow of what I encounter on my travels. As a host I always try to provide as much information on what there is to see - local events, cultural outings, places to eat, etc. - but completely understand that people may want to make their own discoveries; I am always very happy to provide recommendations to guests who need it, or simply leave you to find your own happy!
