Indawo

Puivert, Occitanie, France

We are in the Languedoc region in the South of France, a beautiful, unspoilt part of the world. There is loads to do here: wine tasting, horse riding, cycling, wild swimming, and soaking up the history. Or you can just enjoy the sun.

Puivert is a sleepy village in the foothills of the Pyrenees, 60km South of Carcassonne. It is home to Chateau Puivert, part of the famous Cathar Trail. The Chateau overlooks a swimming lake which buzzes in the summer. You can fish, chill on the beach and grab a drink or a meal from the lakeside restaurant.

The village has a couple of restaurants, a midweek night market (July-August), and even a micro-brewery. The brewery often serves food and hosts some great live music. All 10 minutes walk from the house.

There's a bigger village called Chalabre about 10 minutes drive away. It has a couple of butchers, a grocers, a bakery and a supermarket, great for supplies.

The Mediterranean is about 90 minutes, and there are 3 ski resorts close by.

Some of our favourite local attractions are:
- Quecorb Museum
- Montbel Lake
- Monsegur Castle
- Mirepoix medieval village
- Les Gorges de Galamus
