ArtRoom is a small, stylish bolthole for two in a stunning location in Waternish.
Self-contained with your own entrance through a sheltered, leafy garden at the front. There's a beautiful private garden at the rear with amazing, uninterrupted sea views and garden furniture.
The apartment is adjacent to the artist owner's historic cottage and tiny studio/gallery.
It’s a short, scenic walk to the Stein Inn and award winning Lochbay Restaurant on the seashore. ArtRoom is a very special space.

The newly converted guest accommodation comprises of an open plan lounge with dining space and kitchen area. There's a separate bedroom and en-suite shower room. As you'd expect in a Highland croft cottage, the rooms are quite small but the conversion has added light and height to the space. There's a pretty garden with seating to enjoy the spectacular sea view and famous Waternish sunsets.

You'll enter through the front garden to a covered entrance porch with space for walking boots and wet coats. Your own front door leads to the light, bright arty lounge with comfy sofa, dining space for two and a small kitchen area. It’s a compact space though the high ceiling and large picture window give it a spacious feel. The lounge area and dining table have views through the leafy garden to the sea and islands beyond. Radiators keep the place toasty warm. Designer touches, natural wood floors, rugs and artwork make it stylish and comfortable.

You'll have your own private garden areas to sit and relax. We provide garden chairs and table for alfresco meals. A small barbecue is available for summer evenings.

The kitchen area is equipped for you to make simple meals. There’s a full size fridge, twin hob and a 'combi microwave' (combined microwave with oven and grill). Importantly, you'll have a Nespresso machine for your morning latte. There's a kettle, toaster, cafetière and many useful extras.

We provide all the kitchen basics, washing up liquid, tea towels, condiments etc. There will be complimentary coffee pods, milk, tea and sugar on arrival. We usually leave muesli or granola in the cupboard for a simple breakfast in the event that you arrive late or unprepared.

Your bedroom is totally separate from the living area and is quiet, quirky and comfortable. It’s just a modest size room, but has a standard height ceiling . . unusual to find in a small historic 'Croft House. There's a super comfy (British King-size) double bed and soft cotton bedding. The well-lit room has wardrobe hanging space and a place above for suitcases. You'll have mirrors and plenty of drawer space for your clothes.

The twin-head shower in the brand new shower room will wake you up for the day. There’s a heated towel rail, spacious basin, WC and plenty of hot water. We provide fluffy towels, soap, toilet rolls and cleaning materials.

The scenic village of Stein with two famous eateries, is less than a mile away. The Stein Inn is the oldest Inn on Skye and serves good pub food. Eating fresh fish by the seashore, watching the sunset is pure delight on a spring evening. *obviously everything is subject to COVID regs just now.

Michael Smith’s Loch Bay Restaurant has been awarded a Michelin Star for the delicious, contemporary Scottish food with a French touch. The restaurant is small, relaxed and very friendly. *best to book well in advance

There are other excellent restaurants just a short drive or taxi ride away. We can help with booking taxis. Enjoy fine dining at Edinbane Lodge or The Three Chimneys . . excellent local fare at the Edinbane Inn . . The Dunvegan (restaurant and deli) or The Old School Restaurant in Dunvegan.

You can book a glorious 'Afternoon Tea' at Waternish Farm. This includes an optional walk and fascinating conservation talk.

'Serious Foodies’ are spoilt for choice in this part of Skye!

Waternish is a walkers' paradise. You have forest, seashore and clifftop walks directly from your front door. The wildlife is quite amazing here. You'll be dazzled by the resident eagles' daring displays. You'll see the eagles soaring overhead most days. We provide printed walks and maps and can share our wealth of island knowledge to help you make the most of your stay.

*If you are staying for a full week, we can usually wash and dry a mid-week washer load for you. We won't charge you for this.

Our small art gallery is adjacent to the guest suite. If something takes your eye, we allow generous discounts for our guests. Denise is a former art college lecturer and offers demonstrations and 'hands-on' tuition in her working studio overlooking the sea.

*In normal, non-COVID times, There’s a selection of Printmaking and Craft workshops . . silkscreen printing . . mono print . . machine embroidery . . mixed media jewellery.

No previous experience is required and all materials are provided . . but classes and demonstrations must be booked a few days in advance to allow for preparation. Please enquire.
*In current times, I can always give you a short demo and explanation of techniques, free of charge, time and regulations permitting.

I'm an artist and designer with a passion for wildlife and the natural world. The magical coastline and mountains of Skye, provide endless inspiration. Recently, I opened my studio/gallery to the public and love meeting visitors from around the world. My days are spent creating art and renovating and re-designing our home and garden. A perfect leisure day would be spent outdoors, watching wildlife and birds with my husband Bob . . the perfect evening would be spent with friends or family, sharing good food, wine and music.
