A fully self contained suite with private entrance, attached to the owners' home. Cozy wooden home with a large deck and flowered garden set in the Tirimoana Reserve, surrounded by hills, native bush and a stream. Just 100m from the sea and 1km from the famous 'Queen Charlotte Track'. Great location for kayaking, walks and bird spotting. A lovely place to relax, unwind, enjoy nature, the sea, star gazing and listen to the Bell Birds.

Indawo
FYI: We are fully vaccinated.
The accommodation is a private fully self-contained unit attached to the owners' house with a separate entrance (See 'GUEST ACCESS' below for more detailed information).
Please note - In the past we used to list the Queen Suite/room as a private room on here which was shared with guests staying in the bedroom next door, so you may notice some previous reviews from guests which mention about sharing the facilities with other guests. However, we have now changed this accommodation from a shared space to a private and self contained space. Thus no sharing with other guests. It's just for you :-)

This is a lovely solid timber home with a great deck and flowered garden overlooking the peaceful and tranquil setting in the Tirimoana Reserve with native bush, trees and creek which is surrounded by green wooded hills with the sounds of the Bell Birds and Tui's. Located in The Marlborough Sounds in Anakiwa at the end of the Queen Charlotte Sound and just 10 minutes walk away from The Queen Charlotte Track. Come and enjoy the peaceful scenery, birdsong & the natural feel of the accommodation. The house is only 100 meters from the sea. You can swim in the sea here.

Highly recommended local activities here include:
- Kayaking & mountain biking - Our local tour company "Sea Kayak Adventures" rents out kayaks and mountain bikes and does organized trips from Anakiwa and other local destinations.
- Walks - There are several good walking tracks in the neighborhood including: The Queen Charlotte Track, Link Pathway, foreshore track just 100 metres from the house along the bay for a casual stroll where you can spot the local sea birds. 'Waikakaho/Cullen Creek Walkway' near Linkwater (10 mins drive away) is the old gold-miner’s track that runs through some spectacular landscapes. 'Cullen Loop' track is a nice scenic 1 hour walk with views over Havelock and The Sounds (about 20 mins drive away).

Have a coffee or ice cream at the "Green Caravan Cafe" next to the 'Outward Bound' school (about 10 minutes walk along the foreshore).

There's a 'Little Free Library' here in the village where you can take and swap books to read for free.

There is a variety of bird species here including: Tui, Bellbirds, Fan Tails, Spoonbills, oyster catchers, spur-winged plovers, terns, seagulls, gannets, herons and black swans. We sometimes see Dusky dolphins and seals in the bay too.
Fishing is popular here. There are glow-worms along the foreshore track which are best seen at night.

Please note there are no supermarkets or restaurants in the village.
LINKWATER (10 mins drive) has a pub with good food and a petrol/gas station where you can also buy basic grocery items.
HAVELOCK (20 minutes drive) has a small supermarket, pharmacy, i-site, museum, cafes and restaurants including the well known restaurant 'The Mussel Pot' famous for its green-lipped mussels. Havelock is also home to 'The Pelorus Mail Boat' which is a great way to explore the Marlborough Sounds.
PICTON (30 minutes drive) has a supermaket, sea view cafés, marina, restaurants, pubs, marina, gift shops, museum, aquarium, cinema, pharmacy, i-site and some good walking tracks.
BLENHEIM (60 minutes drive) is famous for its wineries and vineyards. There are also 3 big supermarkets here and an i-site.

Anakiwa, Marlborough, New Zealand

The village is a good mix of a small friendly Kiwi community surrounded by mountains and native bush, right at the sea of the Queen Charlotte Sound. It's a popular holiday spot in the summer for locals and tourists, especially with The Queen Charlotte Track which is 15 mins walk away.
We are located directly on the "TE ARAROA" - New Zealand's Great WalkingTrail, a continuous 3,000 km walking track all the way from Cape Reinga in the north to Bluff in the south.
Please note there is no supermarket here or restaurant. There is the "Green Caravan Cafe" (15 mins walk) open in the afternoons (except in winter) for hot & cold drinks & ice creams.
LINKWATER (10 mins drive) has a pub and petrol/gas station where you can also buy basic grocery items.
HAVELOCK (20 minutes drive) has a small supermarket, pharmacy, i-site, museum, cafes and restaurants including the well known restaurant "The Mussel Pot" famous for its green lip mussels. Havelock is also home to 'The Pelorus Mail Boat' which is a great way to explore the Marlborough Sounds.

BLENHEIM (60 minutes drive) is famous for its wineries and vineyards.

You can see the ferry to the North Island arriving in the city of PICTON, which is about 15km away, from the foreshore in front of the house.

The “Outward Bound” Centre is a 15 minute walk from here.

There are i-Sites located at Havelock (20 mins drive) and Picton (30 mins dive).

I am an easy going guy who enjoys travelling, nature and the outdoors, which is why I love living here. I am an Aeronautical Engineer and my interests include; paragliding, biking, swimming, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking - especially when there are dolphins in the bay. To see some videos, search in YouTube for "DOLPHINS TIRIMOANA". I moved from The Netherlands to New Zealand in 2005 and speak 3 languages; English, German & Dutch. I enjoy allowing our guests to have a peaceful and relaxing experience here surrounded by the tranquil Marlborough Sounds nature and bird song.
