If you are looking for a cosy, self-catering and romantic hideaway, a retreat to this summerhouse is a sound choice.

Here you get to stay in a classic 80 sqm Swedish wooden summerhouse, that was partially renovated in 2013 quite uniquely. The house now features - among other things - a two-story tall living room, a wooden loft, a new dining room addition to the original summerhouse with a panoramic sea-view and a former storage attic turned into a little kidsroom. Apart from the main house, there are three little guest houses. One is named the “harbor house” because of its very location on the quay (so you literally sleep to the sound of the waves). The second one is named the “lovers hut” and is situated on the top of the hilly ground, which gives a spectacular view of the sea and an idyllic overview of the area itself. The third guest house also has a stunning view of trees and the sea, and a very peaceful vibe. Both of these houses have just been renovated, so the interior is very simple, as we haven't had the chance yet to decorate much.

The summerhouse area is wonderful and very special. It lies at the foot of a small mountain range, with mountains and woods in the back and the sea in the front. The sea is the natural beauty of the Bråviken archipelago, where you can be lucky to spot a seal, a sea eagle or catch a herring. The ground itself is a very hilly terrain. The summerhouse faces southward, so there’s sun ALL day. We have one neighbor (sharing the same little cove) – it's a very friendly elderly couple. Other than that there are no houses nearby. The only other building you can spot from here is a castle on the opposite side of Bråviken. This is the Ållonö Baroque Castle from 1670, one of Sweden’s foremost examples of Baroque design.

Bonus info: The summerhouse area is located right next to an old iron ore quarry (järnmalm brud), so the main house as well as the newly renovated houses are actually the houses of quarry workers from the 1600s, who excavated iron ore for canon balls! The renovation of the main house has in some spots actually revealed and enhanced the antique building style.

Please note that everything here is “back to basics” and quite interimistic. No dishwasher, no washing machine, no tumbledryer, no modern toilet (but a classic Swedish “udedas”). The joy of staying here lies exactly in the contrast it is to modern city life – it is a pure breathing hole for the soul, a place to get offline and relax and reflect, sunbathe, swim and grill, but also a place to get active in the nature surrounding. And no worries, we do have electricity and running hot water – and a refrigerator, freezer, oven, stove, shower etc.!

The main house is around 80 sqm and sleeps up to 4 adults and one child. It features:
-Living room with fireplace and a couch/daybed with a single mattress.
-Dining room with a sea-view seating up to 10 people
-Loft sleeping space sleeping 1-2 persons
-Master bedroom sleeping 2 persons
-Tiny kids room (connected to the master bedroom) with one childrensized bed – with sea-view
-Fully-equipped kitchen with a bench and a small table, a refrigerator, freezer, Italian espresso pot, milk skimmer, kitchen-range incl. oven and stove - and also sea view
-Wash room with shower, but no toilet – the toilet is in a traditional Swedish WC-house (udedas) 20 meters from the house. Here there’s no flushing, but instead you cover up with soil! There are two toilet seats, so it actually fits two persons at the same time and has a sea view! Please note that the washroom is older and one of the few things that still is on our renovation "to-do list".

The “lovers hut” is a newer guest house from 1997, renovated on the inside in the spring of 2015. It is 15 sqm and sleeps 2 persons. It is one room only, and features a twinbed, a little table, a chair and a closet. It has a little veranda outside with a bench, where you can sit and enjoy the sunrise or -set. Right next to this little cottage is a space for grilling/lunching/dining, including a table and chairs.

The “harbor house” is an intermistic little 10 sqm guest house situated directly on the seashore/quay and sleeps up to four persons. It has a bunk-bed for two persons as well as a regular bed, which can be folded out to fit two persons.

The third guest house has just been completely renovated and so far only contains a queen size bed, a table and a lamp.

Please note, that it is NOT easy to access the summerhouse. Once you have parked the car, what awaits you is a 10-15 minute walk downhill a bumpy path through the woods. This means that it is by no means possible to get there in wheelchair or if you are just the slightest bit walking impaired. However, we have a kid and have managed to always access the summerhouse whether pregnant, with a baby on the arm and now with a 3 year old kid. But it's important that you understand, that getting to the summerhouse is a little journey itself!

Once at the summerhouse, you will have unlimited access to all cottages.

Also please note, that you have to bring our own bedlinen and towels as there's no washing machine.

As we live in Copenhagen, unfortunately we won't be there to welcome you, but you are of course more than welcome to call if you have any questions.

Regarding the key to the summerhouse, this info will be sent to you upon booking.

What to do?

If you decide to stay here, you can enjoy a simple “offline” living, including sunbathing, swimming (you can access the water either directly from the little private stone beach or from the private wooden pier), cooking, grilling (there is a grill and a campfire place), picking flowers, playing cards, catching fish (or trying to) and so on.

If you would like to explore the surroundings, there’s plenty of things to do:

- Hiking: Sörmlandsleden is a 1000 km excellent hiking trail with some of the nicest stretches near the coast – you can access this only 100 meters from the house. (website hidden).

- Fishing: Nävsjön - Fishing from the coast, sea trout, herring etc. (website hidden) - 12 km. from the summerhouse

- Kolmården Zoo/Safari/Marine World: The biggest zoo of northern Europe (5 km) - very recommendable for families!

- Beach: Children friendly sand beach in Kvarsebo around 10 minutes in car from the summerhouse - (website hidden)

- Golf: Jönåker Golfklubb pay and play (21 km) (website hidden) or Mauritzberg Golfklubb (14 km) (website hidden) you go in car and cross the sea by ferry (a 5-minute trip).

- Stockholm: The capital is 120 km. from the summerhouse – it takes approximately 1,5 hours to get there by car.

- Norrköping: The city of Norrköping is approx. 30 minutes from the summerhouse. If you’d like to visit a restaurant there, the Knäppingsborg area is where you want to go.

- Astrid Lindgrens World: If you want to visit the land of Pippi Longstocking and other characters from Astrid Lindgren’s universe, it is a 2,5 hour trip by car and definitely worth a day-visit if you bring kids. (website hidden)

Practical information:
Here’s the most important information, but if you decide to book the summerhouse, we’ll send a more detailed info-sheet
- Linen and towels: These are not included (due to the lack of washing machine), so make sure to bring your own.
- Duvets and pillows: There are completely new duvets and pillows for 8 persons (6 single sets and 1 double set). If you need more, you can find older quilts and pillows (or you can bring your own).
- Water: There is a lot of iron in the water. It is laboratory tested and you can safely drink it, but if you want to wash clothes you should be aware that it may discolor it a little (redly). So either bring clothes for every day or bring your old/dark clothes that can be washed.
- Grocery shopping: There are two supermarkets in the town Krokek 13 km away. They are open every day from 9-21. In Krokek you can also find a pharmacy, gas station, pizzeria, etc.
