Indawo
Due to the pandemic, we have instituted buffer times and thorough, disinfecting deep cleans between all reservations. This is a wonderfully secluded location inside of a national park, far from civilization but with all the comforts of home.

Please note that our price varies dynamically with the size of your group.

All rooms in Nirvana Blue have ocean views and beach access, and every detail in our villa has been carefully designed to accentuate the landscape's natural beauty. The villa floats over the low flora canopy and plays on traditional Yucatan construction to capture the refreshing gentle breezes of the ocean. Two Loft Suites and two Bungalow Suites, each with their own private bathroom and views, offer privacy, luxury, and serenity. The main structure features a professional open kitchen and living room which is perfect for hanging out and enjoying meals together. There is a large palapa for meditation and yoga, and two smaller palapas on the beach with beach chairs. The ocean is wide, gentle and untouched, and the soft lapping of the waves mix with local birdsong to softly accompany you throughout your stay. At night, turn out the lights and climb into our rooftop stargazing beds to take in the brilliantly clear night sky.
Our villa is located within a federally protected bird sanctuary and biosphere reserve, and there are numerous activities in the area that we recommend. Guided nature, fishing and birding tours, paddle boarding, kitesurfing and kayaking are all easy to arrange, and the nearby ruins of Ek Balam feature a magical azure cenote that's perfect for a refreshing swim. Over 395 species of birds call our reserve home, one of the highest species densities in the world. The village of Rio Lagartos is lovely to visit, and the fresh fish caught by the local fishermen feed all of Yucatan.

Nirvana Blue is one of only a handful of homes within this exclusive reserve and is unique throughout the world for the seclusion and intimacy with nature it affords. Our wonderful caretakers will be on hand 24/7 to welcome you to the beach and assist you with any needs. Our villa is completely solar powered and our beach is recognized as the most environmentally friendly coastal development in the Yucatan.

The villa is deep within the national park, and you will be sharing the area with mother nature. During your stay you may see dolphins, foxes, eagles, flamingoes, snakes, turtles, butterflies, and many species of exotic birds. Detailed information on the local wildlife is sent to all travelers to ensure a safe and pleasant stay. If you treat the surroundings with respect, Nirvana Blue is a calm sanctuary.

Ezinye izinto ekufuneka uziqaphele

What is travel to the villa like?
Cancun is a 3.5 hour drive from the house, and Merida is 2.5 hours. The drive will take you off the beaten path and into the beautiful countryside of the Yucatán. Rio Lagartos is 40 minutes driving from the house, or a 10 minute boat ride right from the beach. Detailed driving instructions are sent to confirmed travelers.

Are there grocery stores or restaurants nearby?
There is a grocery store on the drive in from the airport which is noted in the directions. There are several restaurants in Rio Lagartos as well. Oil, salt, and other cooking staples are provided.

Is there cell reception at the house?
Yes, with stable 3G (if not 4G) reception.

Is there wifi at the house?
Yes, we have high-speed satellite wifi which runs at 25mbps. We have a monthly quota of 35gb, after which the wifi drops to 10mbps. We also have a second internet network that runs at 10-15mbps and allows larger groups to spread out across the two connections. Satellite internet can be affected by weather so heavy cloud cover or rain may cause speeds to slow.

Is there seaweed on the beach?
Occasionally yes. The tides will bring seaweed to the beach as part of the natural cycle of the Yucatan’s ecosystems, but the beach is generally clean for most of the year. If there is seaweed on the beach during your stay, you can simply wade through it to get to the clear waters, or visit our other nearby beach which is 5 minutes away and faces a different direction. The beach can change drastically from day to day.

Does the house have beach furniture?
Yes, there is a bench with shade on the beach, a portable umbrella, and beach chairs.
