The Birdbox is a cosy, handcrafted treehouse nestled in the branches of beautiful mature oak and scots pine trees on our property. To the front are stunning views towards Glenveagh National Park.
A short distance from The Wild Atlantic Way, The Birdbox is ideal for a fun, peaceful getaway or a great base from which to explore Donegal.

Indawo
The Birdbox is a self contained treehouse suitable for adults only.
Internally it measures approximately 3.5 x 2.3 metres on the ground floor.
A 30 metre walk along a stepped wooden walkway through a bank of mature trees leads to the decked area of the treehouse.
The last five metres is accessed by a rope bridge.
At the front of the deck you are five metres from the ground.

On entering the space through the double glass doors at the front, you will find a couch on the left and a tiny woodburning stove on the right which heats the treehouse. All fuel is provided.
A mezzanine above the living space holds a standard double bed and is accessed by a steep fixed ladderlike staircase on the right. Although you cannot stand upstairs, most people should be able to kneel comfortably.

Behind the stairs is a kitchenette with a double ring induction hob, smaller than standard oven and grill and a compact 46 litre fridge with a little ice box.
Please note, due to it's size, the treehouse does not have a microwave, electric kettle or toaster. We do however provide a little enamel kettle that can be used on the induction hob or the stove when lighting. Toast can be made in the grill.

At the back left corner of the treehouse is a small cubicle holding a flushing toilet and shower.
The one sink in the treehouse is at the kitchen counter.
Both shower and sink have on demand hot water.
While the 'bathroom' is compact, opening the door after your shower and pulling across a curtain creates a dressing area and some privacy.
Very tall people may find it a bit uncomfortable under the mezzanine and in the shower as head clearance is about 1.9 metres.

There is some storage for clothes in baskets on shelves, on hooks provided and in small wooden boxes under the couch.
These boxes can also be pulled out to double as footstools or low coffee tables.
There is a fold out table and stools which can be taken out for dining both indoors and outside.

The Hide is a cosy, handcrafted cabin nestled on a slope at the opposite end of our property from the treehouse.

The Cow Shed is a little converted byre also on our property.

We are centrally located in a beautiful part of Donegal, close to most of its attractions.
The treehouse is nestled in a valley 3 km from the scenic village of Fintown.
The river Finn is known widely for its salmon and trout fishing and permits are available locally for fly-fishing.
In Fintown village, you will find the only operational narrow gauge railway in Donegal. It runs for 5 km beside Lough Finn, which is overlooked by Aghla and Scraig mountains.
The local village has pubs, a church, school, health centre and library.

The closest pubs are a 5 minute drive away and the closest restaurants a 15/20 minute drive away.

The towns of Glenties, Dungloe, Ballybofey and Letterkenny are 15 minutes, 15 minutes, 25 minutes and 30 minutes drives respectively.
There you will find restaurants, pubs and supermarkets.

There are many stunning beaches within a 30 minute drive, offering beautiful walks and a choice of sports such as kayaking, surfing, golf and horse-riding, all of which we can help you to organise.

We moved to Donegal eighteen years ago and converted our traditional byre and stone cottage where we now happily live with our two children.
In 2016 Pete completed our second little rental, The Hide, followed a few years later by The Birdbox.
We call our little collection of spaces Neadú which is the Irish word for nestle and love the fact that we can be more self sufficient, working from home while meeting all the lovely people who visit us.
We look forward to welcoming you to one of the most beautiful, unspoilt parts of Ireland!
