Our two suites sit in front of the lagoon, diagonal from the sports field. There are no neighbors for 150+m around. It is a very private & quiet location yet just steps from the center of town. The few sounds heard are singing birds, farm animals & music from the evangelical church nearby & Bar Danube across the water, close enough to hear & far enough to enjoy. Relax under the porch while it rains or in the hammock under the endless clear sky & witness a million stars on a moonless night..

Indawo
At "Cabin by the Lagoon" you may get the feeling that you are a part of the nature. During the rainy season the wetlands may be just a meter away from the porch & during the dry season this same area, now grasslands, may meet the Rio Frio. Both seasons, local & migratory birds make their homes in this reserve, preying on fish & insects or even feeding off the horses & cows grazing in front. You may wish to write a book, meditate on the sounds or just paddle away in one of the canoes or kayaks we keep for our guests. Welcome to another way of being...

Ukungena kondwendwe
You will have use of all the cabin & our property. The land is over an acre & includes many meters of lagoon / wetlands / drylands reserve frontage. There is a fire pit, hammocks, kayaks, canoes (with notice) & plenty of room to stretch out among the trees. Norma can help with cooking, laundry & cleaning. Please ask for prices. Welcome to my magical paradise!

Ezinye izinto ekufuneka uziqaphele
Please understand that you are coming to a bit of a remote destination. Bring any medications, foods, snacks you may need. Bring mosquito repellent, clothes to protect from the sun & bugs & quick dry clothing in case you get wet. Cel service is good and with notice I may leave a portable router for internet connection. Imagine that you are going back in time 75 years & you should be fine.

The "town" is just 200m from my property & boasts a coffee shop, a police station, the local bar, a church, the health center & a grammer school. Most wetlands tours begin at the dock some 250m walk from here. It's a pleasant & welcoming pueblo where horse, canoe & boat transport is more commonly used than vehicles...

Hello from Costa Rica. I've been here for 26 years & never looked back! I'm a down to earth, grateful for most everything that comes my way original San Francisco city girl who loves nature... My 3 favorite sports are hiking, bike camping/touring & swimming in rivers, oceans & lakes & this is how I have gotten to know so many of the wonderful destinations & hidden charms of Costa Rica! Life motto? The poem shared below... "Ithaka" by Cavafy When you set out for Ithaka ask that your way be long, full of adventure, full of instruction. The Laistrygonians and the Cyclops, angry Poseidon - do not fear them: such as these you will never find as long as your thought is lofty, as long as a rare emotion touch your spirit and your body. The Laistrygonians and the Cyclops, angry Poseidon - you will not meet them unless you carry them in your soul, unless your soul raise them up before you. Ask that your way be long. At many a Summer dawn to enter with what gratitude, what joy - ports seen for the first time; to stop at Phoenician trading centres, and to buy good merchandise, mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony, and sensuous perfumes of every kind, sensuous perfumes as lavishly as you can; to visit many Egyptian cities, to gather stores of knowledge from the learned. Have Ithaka always in your mind. Your arrival there is what you are destined for. But don't in the least hurry the journey. Better it last for years, so that when you reach the island you are old, rich with all you have gained on the way, not expecting Ithaka to give you wealth. Ithaka gave you a splendid journey. Without her you would not have set out. She hasn't anything else to give you. And if you find her poor, Ithaka hasn't deceived you. So wise you have become, of such experience, that already you'll have understood what these Ithakas mean.

Ngexesha lokuhlala kwakho
Until Jan 2021 I will be away however Norma & Memo are there to help.
-Although I am usually busy with chores or community activities I am available most early mornings for coffee & evenings as I enjoy a good book, hanging with my dogs or just listening to the local sounds... I enjoy meeting people & sharing time together yet understand that tourists also need their time & space. I'll help you arrange activities & tours & may even be your guide in some cases. I can also help with travel plans around Costa Rica.-
