Ezinye izinto ekufuneka uziqaphele
Le Grand-Pressigny Highlights
Le Grand-Pressigny, located in the Indre-et-Loire, is an ideal base to explore the Loire Valley countryside with many châteaux, medieval towns, beautiful villages, vineyards, gardens and markets.

The Local Area
30 minutes away or less:
Loches - Medieval city with Royal palace & dungeon; markets Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
La Roche-Posay - Spa, swimming in the Creuse River, casino, race track.
Chauvigny - Weekly markets and birds of prey live show in the castle.
Chatellerault – TGV Station, monuments, museums, fairs and festivals.
Paulmy – has pond with picnic tables and is very easy to bike to.
La Guerche- close by with a Chateau on the river.
At Saint-Remy-sur-Creuse there is the Ethni’citi, troglodyte village.
Some nearby restaurants include Pizzeria Pinocchio, L’assiete Cruese, Le Paille en Queue and in Le Petit-Pressigny there is a 5 star Michelin Restaurant La Promenade.
TGV (high speed train) closest trains are 25 min away in Chatellerault or in Tours. Easy trips to Paris, Poitiers and La Rochelle on the coast.

The Loire Valley
The Loire Valley region is situated in the centre of northern France, south-west of Paris. The 'official' French region that includes the Loire Valley is called 'Centre', although this name is not well known outside France.
•1 hour: Rigny-Usse; Chinon (wine caves); Tours; Vouvray (popular wineries); Chenonceaux; Amboise; Villandry; Richelieu; Poitiers; Futuroscope
In addition, some of the ‘most beautiful villages in France’ are close by such as Angles-sur-l'Anglin (33 km), Crissay-sur-Manse ( 45 km), Montresor (50 km), and Candes-Saint-Martin (75 km).
Areas to explore:

• Close to Loches are the villages of Beaulieu-les-Loches and Chanceaux-prés-Loches, both Ferriere-Larcon and Boussay are very pleasant. A little further off the beaten track, to the north-east of Vouvray, the quiet village of Saint-Ouen-les-Vignes is also very scenic.

Castles:
• Chenonceau is one of the most visited of the castles in the Loire Valley and certainly one of our favourite castles in France - if you can only visit one or two castles in the region this should be on your shortlist! Near Amboise
• Many of the castles here in the Loire Valley were originally medieval fortresses that got substantially rebuilt during the 15th-17th centuries to make them more comfortable for living in. This is why you will often see defensive structures that remain from these earlier buildings in the castles you visit, such as towers (now with windows added) and moats (now purely decorative).
• The most visited chateaux in the area include:
• South-west of Orléans: the Château de Blois, the Château de Chambord, and Château de Cheverny, with Château de Valençay a little to the south of this group
• Between Blois and Tours: the Château de Chenonceau and Château d'Amboise, as well as the Chateau de Clos-Lucé and Domaine Royale de Château-Gaillard, also in Amboise
• Among the larger towns that are interesting to visit in the Centre region are Tours, Orleans (capital of the region) and Blois. We also suggest you visit Beaugency, site of one of the famous battles of Joan of Arc, Loches and Valencay.
• The Loire valley / Centre region has several villages that are classified among the 'most beautiful villages of France' to discover and explore: These include Lavardin (near Blois), Candes-Saint-Martin (near Saumur); Apremont-sur-Allier (near Nevers); Montresor (near Loches); St-Benoit-du-Sault and Gargilesse-Dampierre (near Argenton-sur-Creuse); and Crissay-sur-Manse (near Tours).

We have left many brochures of things to do in the area in the basket. Unless you see more than one, please do not remove these so that other guests may refer to them too.
The Tourism Office in town is also a great place for information, brochures and maps. It is located next to the Mairie and open 7 days.

Hello! I am a California native and own an escape room here. California is home but I love to travel. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase homes in two of my favorite places, the Big Island in Hawaii and the countryside in France. Outside of Hawaii, I fell in love with France, the culture and people the first time I visited many years ago. I have a 16 year old daughter who is really coming along in her French and I have begun lessons of my own. I truly enjoy all that France and Hawaii have to offer no matter what time of year it is, and I’m always looking forward to my next trip. Since I enjoy hosting friends and extended family, you should find that the properties are well equipped for your holiday in France with everything from outdoor games and activities by the pool to big family dinners and if in Hawaii also everything needed for your beach vacation. To help you make the most of your stays, I have left much information at the property on favorite excursions around the area and tips. Many guests have added in their favorites as well but of course just relaxing at the property is just as enjoyable to me. I hope you enjoy exploring these areas as much as we do! If there is anything you feel the homes are missing, then please let me know so I can meet your expectations! Safe travels and adventures! Amy
