Indawo
The main building of the Shilaroo Project is located in a corner of the farm to maximize the amount of land left over for agriculture waste-water treatment, rain-water harvesting systems, solar energy driven backup and the pottery studio.

In order to passively heat the building, it is oriented such that it faces south by south-west so as to receive the maximum amount of sun. To further help with heating, the extensive use of glass ensures that the building remains warm even in the peak of winter without any active heating. The material palette of exposed brick, terracotta and wood, lend it additional visual warmth.
The private spaces include two private double rooms (with en-suite facilities), each with individual sit-outs over-looking the Churdhar Range. These rooms are ideal for individuals or couples those looking for a quiet and speculative time. Each room is amply furnished with easy chairs, cupboards, dressing table and drop-down table in the balcony.
There are several common areas in the building which the guests are welcome to explore during their stay. The expansive lounge adjacent to the kitchen is always a favorite for conversations, playing board games or simply savoring the panoramic views on the wooden swing. The lounge leads to a community dining area to encourage wholesome social interactions among the guests. Those looking to work or use their time creatively, the generous attic-library is the ultimate space filled with a variety of books, art supplies, easels, sunlight and mountain vistas.

Ukungena kondwendwe
As the property is located on an apple orchard, we encourage the guests to spend time outdoors on the farm, taking in the clean mountain air along with the views. The guests will also have access to our warm and bright attic/library for quiet, creative, reflective or simply some sleepy times. The lounge/ living and the dining area on the ground floor is a crowd favorite and usually the meeting point for guests to interact or play some indoor games with each other along with a cup of our freshly brewed in house herbal teas and snacks. The pottery and yoga studio will be open for your initial tour of the property. However, if you want to take up classes that is something that needs to be booked in advance at an extra cost.

Ezinye izinto ekufuneka uziqaphele
Although we have blocked dates for when we conduct our workshops. There is still a chance that you might end up sharing the space with our long-term students, who journey to us from all over the world specifically to learn Yoga and pottery. We understand the importance food plays not just in our daily lives but especially on vacations. To give you a complete and holistic experience of living in tune with nature in the Himalayas we have built a fully functioning kitchen, overlooking the Churdhar peak, accompanied by a trained chef dolling out exquisite farm-fresh homemade vegetarian food. We follow a set menu and set meal timings in order to maintain the essence of our space and your experience with us at the project. We do take special requests for people with allergies or any medical conditions leading to dietary restrictions. There are no hospitals or clinics nearby, in accordance we request you carry any and all medication you might require. Also, we recommend to always carry something warm to wear, sturdy shoes, rain gear, and torches, especially after the summer months. To promote a more cohesive and natural living experience with our immediate environment we do not provide any Wifi facility to our guests. (There is great cellphone connectivity in the area.)
