This magnificent house built by Emile Ranarivelo at the beginning of the 20th century is a testimony of the history of Madagascar. He was at that time called the Malagasy Panama. Emile Ranarivela, was a descendant of a Queen Ranavalo III, and was one of the first Malagasy to obtain French citizenship; he married Rose, a young girl living in a boarding school in Marseilles and it was the first mixed marriage Malagasy man/ European woman in the history of Red Island.
