The Mahia Peninsula scenic walk offers visitors excellent views of the Wairoa coast & reserve. This reserve is located 7 km south of Mahia Beach up the Kinikini Road. A 3.5 km loop track walks you through one of the best examples of semi coastal forest on the North Island east coast. Allow 2 hrs 30 mins to walk this track. Another spectacular walk is up the iconic Mokotahi Hill. It's a 20min climb to the top, and you have the best sea views of Mahia Beach ever... you can view far south to Napier and north to Gisborne.
