This is something different...

Our beautiful off-grid Mongolian-birthed yurt, Daisy, is located at Satori, a unique Nature healing retreat nestled in a Somerset County Wildlife site, amid the enchanting Blackdown Hills of Somerset and East Devon. Here you'll have the opportunity to step away from the daily stresses of life – and step into the relaxed pace of Nature's rhythm.

Satori is part of an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), on the side of a gently south-west sloping valley which levels out in to a 3-acre private wild flower glade, surrounded by woods...that's where you'll find our yurt, Daisy.

Daisy is totally immersed in Nature. She has decking to lounge about on, with outside table and chairs, as well as the covered porch/kitchen area - great extra space for boots and coats.

The outside kitchen is simple yet fully equipped. Inside Daisy is comfortable (21' in diameter) and cosy. In addition to the beds, you'll find a wood-burner (she's well insulated), chest of draws, sofa and dining table with chairs...

All you need to bring is food, a torch and towels.

You are welcome to use the outdoor fire-pit we've created for you to cook on, or spend time sitting around reflecting on life.

A short walk away, there is a shared area where tapped spring water is available for washing up (eco-products provided) and you'll find our quirky wood-burning shower; there is a dedicated tap offering filtered drinking water from Satori's very own spring. The compost toilet is nearby; and wild peeing is encouraged!

Why not add on some basket weaving, reflexology, or from March to July some sensory-based wild food foraging to your stay.

Churchstanton, England, United Kingdom

The Blackdown Hills is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (BHAONB). Most of the land here has been held in the same family for many generations. Because of the many natural springs and wooded valleys that are found here, the land has escaped intensive farming so retains a touch of Old England, supporting a diverse array of flora and fauna, some of it quite rare.

The BHAONB regularly put on interesting walks and talks to help rediscover the landscape, rural skills etc...

Our small and local village of Churchingford is within walking distance from Satori (approx. 1.9 miles away), home to The York Inn, a good English country pub (pre-booking essential at weekends), a post office and well-stocked community shop.

Hemyock, the largest village on the Blackdown Hills, is 4-miles away - you'll find a post office and a Spar shop (open quite late). And, on a Friday night Exe-Valley Pizzas rock up in their mobile van and sell the most delicious wood-fired pizzas!

There are many small communities nearby with enthusiastic villagers who create activities for those that live here and visit, such as film showings, farmers' markets and tabletop sales....there are historic interests such as Hembury Hill Fort, Blackbury Camp and the Wellington Monument; and the ocean, with its striking Jurassic Coast, or Beer Caves - all not far if you have a car.

The ancient and historic city of Exeter is about 40-mins by car, with all medley of things to do there such as the Underground Passages tour (you need to book) which takes you through a network of ancient tunnels, some only chest height, where they used to channel water under the city!

There is loads to do!

I've always loved nature. But it took two significant events in my life to truly appreciate its power.

In 2002 I lost my father and in 2007, I was affected by cancer.

Although heartbreaking, these experiences helped illuminate nature as the root of all healing – motivating me to follow my heart and start this retreat.

I bring a rich career in reflexology where I’ve helped people find greater meaning in their life; and since 2015 I’ve been studying basket making with the English master craftsman, Ivor Hancock.

I have also undertaken extensive self-development studies in techniques such as shamanism, Focusing, and Pesso Boyden Therapy (PBSP).

I've completed a year-long apprenticeship with Sensory Solutions, run by two very passionate herbalists, progressing on to a one-year wild food teacher training course.

Inspired by my cancer journey and while studying for my philosophy degree, I personally discovered the power of creative writing for wellbeing.

But ultimately, I know it’s not my credentials that form a connection.

It’s my care for people, my warm spirit and my love of the Earth.
