Apho uza kuba khona

Millbrook, England, United Kingdom

Pubs - Millbrook, cawsand kingsand St John and Cremyll all have pubs, which offer meals as well. Can be accessed by Kayak, if the tides are right.

Cafe’s - Cafe in Southdown Marina [3 minute walk] as well as The Cliff Top Cafe at Whitsand Bay. Also in Millbrook at the Whole food shop.

Walking - Some great local walks available. We have supplied an Ordinance Survey map of the area to help, as there are too many to list.

Beaches - Whitsand Bay offers miles of beautiful beach with great surfing, fishing, rock pooling and snorkelling. However if you prefer not to have a steep walk up and down, Cawsand and Kingsand have lovely accessible beaches.

Flora, Fauna, Fishing, Foraging and Fungi - Local animals you may be lucky to see - Deer, Badgers, Hedgehogs as well as our resident Squirrel who you may hear on the roof or see in the Oak trees. We have in the past seen Seals and Dolphins from Logi’s Boathouse.

Birdlife is amazing. All common garden birds, as well as Long Tailed Tits, Sparrow Hawks, Kestrels, Buzzards, Kingfishers, Herons, Oyster Catchers, Cormorants, Curlew, Egret, Redshank, Peregrine Falcons, Plover, Lapwing, Woodpeckers, Owls …. and lots more.

Foraging - Seaweeds, Penny Wort, Sea Kale, Three Cornered Leek, Wild Garlic, Elder Flower and Berry, Hawthorn, Sloes, Blackberry, Fennel etc, all found very locally in Season.

Fungi - in Season on the banks of the estuary and at Mt Edgcumbe we have found lots of varieties, including Chicken of the Woods, Puffballs, The Prince, Beefsteak, Oysters, Field Mushrooms etc etc. Please be careful, and be 100% confident you know what you have before eating.

Fishing - you can find Bass and Mullet in the Estuary in the warmer months with a chance of Gilt Head Bream. Winter offers Flounder and Bass. On the open coast some great marks offering a wide variety of species from Mackerel, Pollock, Bream and Wrasse to Conger eels and Thornback Ray.

Mud larking- Around the Estuary we have found plenty of sea glass, Hag stones, old clay Pipes and even Cannonballs. Lots of Driftwood as well.

Days out - We have left some leaflets for you to look at.
However local days out we would recommend include

Plymouth, via the Cremyll Foot ferry or Cawsand foot ferry. Torpoint car ferry. [National Marine Aquarium, Royal William Yard, The Barbican, Theatres, Cinemas and Restaurants].
Kingsand and Cawsand.
Mount Edgcumbe Estate and Anthony Estate.
Looe and Polperro [Historic fishing ports]
Golitha falls [Beautiful Woodland with River Fowey flowing through gorges and falls] which is on the edge of Bodmin Moor.
Bodmin Moor [Ancient stone Circles, Cornish mining]
Rame Head.
Port Eliot Gardens.
Fowey.
