Country living near the sea. There's peace and magic in this enchanted place, which feels far removed from the hectic pace of modern life, while close to all the conveniences that you might need. The best of all worlds? Come and see for yourself. This is a great place for nature lovers, families and groups to create sweet and lasting memories.

The charming farmhouse and barn are well secluded on 2.1 acres and set back from a private, dead-end, unpaved road within a peaceful and private neighborhood association.

The front and side yards are spacious and open with plenty of room for children to play. Our woodsy and wild backyard flows into 18 acres of abutting conservation lands that extend to lovely coves. The property is ringed by tall trees and attracts many birds and other wildlife.

Almost across the road is Kent's Point (entrance 0.15 mi), a 31-acre conservation area with a mile of shoreline and stunning views clear across Pleasant Bay to Nauset Beach.

Both conservation areas have waterfront trails and welcome dogs.

A short walk away are Frostfish Cove (0.2 mi.), Henson's Cove (0.2 mi.), Lonnie's/Kescayogansett Pond (0.25 mi.) and The River (0.33 mi.), which are inlets of Pleasant Bay.

We also are within walking distance of two gorgeous lakes, Crystal Lake (0.4 mi.) and Pilgrim Lake (0.8 mi.), both of which have cozy sand beaches within conservation areas. Pilgrim Lake has a swimming dock.

Spectacular Nauset Beach (3.1 mi.), one of the best beaches in New England, is ten minutes away. Skaket Beach (3.5 mi.), on the calmer and warmer waters of Cape Cod Bay, faces due West and is the stage for glorious sunsets.

We are conveniently located two miles from the Orleans town center and eight miles from Chatham's town center.

Simplicity, harmony and charm are the bywords of this house, which comfortably accommodates up to nine people.

Pleasing craftsman touches include: glowing wood paneling, vintage brick, Portuguese tiles, a magnificent fireplace, stained glass and copper elements. The luminous front entry has a cathedral ceiling with skylight, a hand-crafted front door fit for a castle, and exposed beams. The glazed ceramic tile floor in the entry hall glows a soothing shade of blue. The solid oak floors have a natural tung oil finish so that you feel smooth wood grain on your feet.

The house is decorated with tastefully curated art or handicrafts expressing nautical and natural themes. Uncluttered and immaculate, it has a smooth flow of space and soothing hues.

And there's a stately brick fireplace with a long mantle (sorry, no fires allowed indoors, but it looks great), and the room is decorated with hand-carved schooner hulls. There's also a collection of books and games for kids, including my son's favorite: Kapla, the Scandinavian construction toy.

The 400-square-foot elevated mahogany deck features a large Weber gas grill, teak dining table and chairs, and an outdoor sofa next to a large fire table.

The deck overlooks a wildlife hot spot and conservation land. Birds abound, and occasional visitors include wild turkeys, hawks, hummingbirds, deer, foxes, rabbits and coyote.

A new deluxe jacuzzi by Hot Spring Spas seats six, with one lounge seat and pillowed head rests. There are six different types of jets, 43 jets in all, providing a therapeutic hydro-massage from your neck on down to your feet. The pneumatically-assisted cover lifter making it easy to uncover the tub. The hot tub operates in all seasons.

An unenclosed, al fresco outdoor shower with teak shower base is next to the deck and near the hot tub; the outdoor shower is operational between May - October.

Our spacious, rustic, unfinished and unweatherized barn has ping pong along with a smart TV offering Netflix, a simple lounge area with chairs and a table, and double-double barn doors that open wide to let the light shine in.

The rustic wood fire pit is in a lovely spot beyond the barn, close to nature, and away from the house so that you can enjoy intimate firelight conversations and roast marshmallows without disturbing people sleeping in the house.

Comfortable Adirondack chairs invite you to enjoy a cup of coffee on the covered front porch.

The house is professionally cleaned for your visit according to CDC recommendations. Cleaners wear masks and are tested daily.

The hot tub is professionally cleaned and maintained between guests, or weekly for longer-term guests.

Trash is collected on Wednesdays and Saturdays during summer, and on Wednesdays outside of summer.

I have a lifetime of experience on Cape Cod and am readily available to help tailor your Cape Cod experience to your interests and tastes, provide insider suggestions on places and food, and help you to avoid the crowds and make the most of your time on the Cape, or simply reach a state of pure relaxation.

I provide a House Manual that explains how everything works in the house, including the hot tub. And, I provide a home-brewed Local Guide to help you to navigate the Lower Cape.

An experienced local team ensures that the house will be immaculate and in optimal running condition, and responsive to any issues. The house is reviewed before and after each group of guests.

There is parking for a total of five or six cars: two cars at the terminus of the main driveway in front of the house, and a third parking space near the mouth of the driveway. A second and rough driveway leads to the barn, where there is parking for two or three cars.

Our house is a place to go slow. It's in a very quiet, private neighborhood.

Listen to birds and pine-fragrant whispering breezes in the trees. Gaze at a stunningly star-filled sky from the hot tub. On some nights, you may even hear the sound of waves rolling all the way up to our front porch from Nauset Beach. Nature lovers in particular will savor the experience.

> Crystal Lake (0.44 mi), at the beginning of our lane, is a crystalline gem with sandy bottom, as the name implies. It's wow beautiful, gets direct late afternoon sun, and is wonderful for swimming. There's a narrow sandy beach backed by the green Dickinson Conservation Area. A tiny parking lot (around 10 parking spaces!) helps keep the crowds away. It's a pleasant walk to the lake down our Lane.

> Pilgrim Lake (0.8 mi) is tucked away in the woods and feels semi-wild. It has a spacious sandy beach within an eight-acre conservation area, a swimming dock, and is great for kids. There's more parking here than at Crystal Lake. You could also walk or bike to this lake along quiet back roads.

[Motorboats happily are not allowed on the lakes of Orleans, but kayaks, canoes and paddle boards are welcome. ]

> Nauset Beach (3.10 mi) is stunning and minutes away by car, no traffic lights en route. It is considered by many to be the best ocean beach on Cape Cod if not on the East Coast, and offers nine miles of pristine beach within the grand national park, Cape Cod National Seashore. Need some space? When you hit the sand, turn right, keeping walking, and soon will find yourself in the company of only birds and seals.

> Skaket Beach (3.5 mi.), on Cape Cod Bay, has warmer, gentler waters, and is great for kids and for swimming within three hours of high tide. There are 10 to 12-foot tidal variations at this beach. Within two hours of low tide, miles of exposed tidal flats invite you for exploration (beware the fast incoming tide!). Skaket faces due West and the sun setting into the sea is the best show in town, attracting an audience every unclouded evening. In addition, this beach boasts a fabulous panoramic view of Cape Cod Bay stretching from Provincetown to Plymouth.

Please read the house rules below, under "Other things to note".

I grew up with Cape Cod's spectacular nature and love to share this former farm in Orleans, which has been a part of my family for 40 years. I've worked and lived internationally in cities including New York, Paris, Buenos Aires, Rome and Prague, where I currently reside. And, meet Bettina: she's from Europe and is the house designer. Bettina studied Italian literature and journalism in Munich and Bergamo. She creates documentaries for a French-German TV station, and also is a Pilates instructor, yoga practitioner, and connoisseur of food, wine and art. We travel widely and love dreamy places, and hope you will love our beautiful home away from home.
