Sitting within a terrace of former farm workers cottages, Honeysuckle Cottage offers guests the opportunity to stay in a charming, character-filled Cotswold stone cottage in the village of Blockley, a real under-the-radar treasure in the Cotswolds. This multi-level cottage lies over 3 levels, sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms, and is dog friendly. There are fabulous rural views and it’s the perfect base from which to explore the wider Cotswolds. There are also some wonderful walks on your doorstep.

*Dogs: 1 well-behaved dog is welcome at the cottage for an additional fee. The pet fee is NOT included in your booking cost. A request for an additional fee per pet will be sent to you after you have placed your booking. Your pet fee must be paid for before your arrival date.

Constructed from the local mellow-hued Cotswold stone, Honeysuckle Cottage forms part of a peaceful terrace of cottages, that was once home to farmworkers. To the front of the cottage are hedge-lined fields and to the rear, far-reaching views of the Cotswolds. This is an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and it’s not uncommon to see herds of deer in the field beyond the rear garden, as well as birds of prey in the skies above.

Honeysuckle is a traditional stone cottage that is filled with character and charm and retains many original features including fabulous deep-set stone mullioned windows with window seats, stone fireplaces, and exposed stone walls. Its elevated location means it has been built over three levels. You enter on the ground floor into an inviting, light-filled living room with a wood-burning stove, the bathroom is also on this floor. Down on the lower ground floor, you’ll find a cosy dining room with the original flagstone floor and a well-equipped kitchen. There is also a door to the rear garden.

The views from the rear of Honeysuckle are just wonderful and the pretty rear garden is filled with roses, shrubs and plants and laid to decking. This steps gradually down to a seating area with a four-seater table at the end. The field beyond the garden often plays host to a herd of deer and the sound of birdsong fills the air.

Please note that additional guests above the maximum capacity are not permitted to stay overnight.

The decking steps gently down to a seating area at the end with a table and four chairs and the most wonderful rural views. Linger with your morning coffee and watch the herd of deer in the field beyond, enjoy al fresco dining or peaceful evening drinks as the sky overhead fills with stars.

Blockley, England, United Kingdom

Blockley offers a picture-perfect escape for those looking to explore the Cotswolds yet stay away from the crowds. The village rose to prominence in the 18th and 19th centuries as a centre for the English silk industry, and it lies within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, tucked into a valley away from the usual tourist trails. There is a fantastic community-run village shop and café, and the Great Western Arms pub and Crown Inn, both just a short stroll away.

Supermarkets and Shops
Honeysuckle Cottage benefits from superb local amenities, including the highly acclaimed Blockley Village Shop and Café, which sells a range of groceries, local produce, newspapers and magazines, fresh and frozen meats, wines and beers, ready meals and more. Moreton-in-Marsh is a 10-minute drive away and has a wide range of independent local shops. There is also an excellent market every Tuesday (and has been since 1227) with more than 200 stalls. You’ll find an Aldi supermarket and a Co-op and Budgens on the High Street.

Eating Out
• Blockley is well located to enjoy an excellent range of dining establishments. The Crown on the High Street also serves food.

• The Blockley Café is highly regarded and fully licensed, offering coffee, breakfasts, and lunches. The café also serves exceptional food on Wednesday to Saturday evenings and guests are advised to book well ahead to ensure a table.

• A 5-minute drive away is the Churchill Arms pub in Paxford. This beautiful 17th-century Cotswold inn is owned by a talented chef who trained under legendary chefs such as Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsay.

• Chipping Campden is 5 minutes’ drive (or a beautiful hours walk) away and has a range of lovely restaurants and cafés to choose from.

Places to Visit:

• Mill Dene Garden (0.4 miles)
• Batsford Arboretum (3.4 miles)
• Broadway Tower (3.9 miles)

• Blockley’s unspoiled location amidst the stunning rolling landscape of the Cotswold hills affords it with a plethora of walks. Head to the Cotswold AONB website’s Self-Guided walks section for a wide choice of local walks. A number of local maps and walking books are also provided in the cottage.

• There is a footpath 30 yards from the property, linking Blockley to the Cotswold Way via the Diamond Way to the Monarch’s Way and Heart of England Way long-distance paths and Chipping Campden. The route passes the Baker’s Arms in Broad Campden which serves excellent Sunday lunches. There is also a beautiful circular walk from Blockley village to nearby Batsford, where its vibrant arboretum can be enjoyed by all ages throughout the year.
