A five minute drive will put you in the heart of Gatineau Park or nearby village of Wakefield; both well-frequented by locals and visitors alike.

Gatineau Park has hundreds of kilometres of trail for hiking and biking in the summer. Avid cyclists can bring their own bike or pull on their hiking sneakers for a gentle or vigourous walk to soaring views. Rent a kayak or sunbathe on the sandy beaches at nearby Lac Philippe Lake. Those fit enough for the hills can bike there in about 20 minutes. Otherwise, it's a five minute drive with lots of parking ($) available. Use the picnic tables and charcoal BBQ, or sunbathe until you get hot enough for a swim. On your way home, treat yourself to a hamburger, fries and an ice cream at the local Casse Croute (chip truck) CARLO or pick up some beer or wine at the dépanneur (corner store) - two Quebec institutions not to be missed!

Wakefield is home to historic covered bridge, walking trails and delicious restaurants with top chefs and views of the Gatineau River. Shop for unique gifts, have a coffee or meal on an outdoor terrace or book a massage at the Wakefield Inn Spa.

Within an hour drive of your home away from home there are artist studios and galleries where you can take workshops or buy unique local handicrafts. Le Nordik and Amerispa are two options offering outdoor baths and Scandinavian saunas within 20 minute drive.

Adventures of all kinds await you - including bungee jumping, zip-lining, or canoing a water maze at Éco Odyssée. Day trip to Montebello for a truly unique Canadian experience - feed the deer at Parc Omega then treat yourself to a five-course dinner at Chateau Montebello.
