The Amazing Villa is a beautiful summer house, set in spectacular natural surroundings. It's a place to chill out, to recharge and to get inspired, far away from mainstream tourism. A place you can call home.

Indawo
The Ylang Ylang Suite is our most impressive room at the Amazing Villa. It occupies an entire building (stand alone) and forms part of a beautiful summer house, set in spectacular natural surroundings. The Amazing Villa sits on a large private property with 2 km of private coastline (of which 600 meters are white sandy beaches). The mountains in the background - covered with rain forest - form a spectacular backdrop.

At the Amazing Villa we like to eat fresh and healthy foods, so we have a large organic garden with vegetables, herbs and spices. We also keep French chickens (free range) for eggs and meat. Freshly caught fish can be had daily from a nearby fisherman's village. We hope our 2 Labradors and 2 cats will make you feel at home the moment you arrive. During the daytime you will most likely be enjoying the surroundings and the beach. At night you will fall asleep, soothed by the sounds of the waves and the rain forest. The house comes with two gardeners, a maintenance man and a beach janitor (for daily cleaning of the beach and its surroundings). You are welcome to do your own cooking, using our facilities (we cook on wood fire), but you may have to bring most of your ingredients from Puerto. The small shops near the Villa offer only basic things. If you wish, the hosts can also cook for you. My wife Theresa is very talented and highly passionate about cooking. She does wonders with all our garden fresh ingredients. Her cooking has been featured in two national newspapers as well as on local TV. She offers an amazing meal plan (advance reservation required) which is usually the highlight of a stay at the Villa. Her unique flavors continue to impress the most discerning palates from around the globe.

The Ylang-Ylang suite is exceptionally spacious. It has a very large bedroom with king sized bed made of the finest ebony wood, a large terrace on both sides of the bedroom with spectacular views of the South China Sea (sunsets !) and the rain forest, a beautiful bathroom with bathtub designed for two and a private dining room (table seats six) with kitchen on the ground floor. The Ylang Ylang suite is built using the finest tropical hardwoods (flooring, walls, furniture) and has floor to ceiling windows (screened) for unrestricted views and enjoyment of the ocean air.
We have built several private hideaways around the house, where you can enjoy the view and the sea breeze with a book, a cocktail or a cup of tea. Or just have a lazy afternoon nap in a hammock.
Other amenities of the house include a gym, a petanque court, a cocktail bar, a yoga platform/view deck and an outdoor kitchen. Planned amenities for the near future are a Zen Garden, a wood fired brick oven and a zip line that will take you from your balcony straight to the beach.

We are leading a comfortable yet low impact life style. We produce our own veggies and meat, make our own virgin coconut oil, natural bug repellents, yoghurt and chocolate. We cook using only the freshest ingredients straight from our garden. We avoid chemical additives and processed foods. If you wish to learn or participate in our organic farming, you are very much welcome. We have some live stock to tend to as well (cows, goats, water buffaloes, chickens).

To help keep our carbon footprint low, we invite all our visitors to plant one tree each. Either a long living fruit tree or a tropical hardwood tree. We provide the seedlings and make sure the tree will prosper.

We live in a part of Palawan that is exceptionally beautiful and as of yet totally untouched by mass tourism. Many of our neighbors are indigenous people (of the Tagbanua tribe). The Tagbanua still live very close to nature and possess a wealth of knowledge about plants from the forest, natural and spiritual healing and nature in general. Knowledge that has largely been lost in modern "civilised" society today.

Hi ! My name is Herwig but do call me Gilles. All my friends do. I'm a nature lover with an independent and adventurous spirit. I am Belgian. I used to travel extensively, came to the Philippines in '98, fell in love with the country and with Theresa -now my wife- and never left. Theresa is an amazing cook (very creative !) and she loves to bake as well. Her cheese cakes and cinnamon rolls are out of this world.
We both love music, pristine nature and good food.
We live in two places: we have a house in Puerto Princesa City (our residence) and a summer house on the West Coast of Palawan (The Amazing Villa). It's here that you will find the best beaches as well as untouched rain forest. We like to move often between locations.
We would love to share our private paradise with you. If you're an adventurous type, I will take you hiking on hunting trails of the indigenous people. We can go night fishing or we cross some rivers on a dirt bike. We can go bird watching in the rain forest or you can simply spend a morning in the privacy of your own beach. By the way, we grow our own veggies, herbs and spices (100% organic) and harvest fresh for every meal. Your eggs will be free range. We don't use processed food.
