THE BEST BAKERY IN BROOKLYN! This place is an all-vegan bakery a few doors down from my place. I'm not vegan but I can't keep away from this place!

A super fun queer-friendly bar! They often have drag performers lipsyncing on the bar. Sandwiched between another fun bar, Birdy's, and a great taco joint that is open late.

A hip dive bar with arcade games and a real photobooth. A popular weekend joint for beautiful Brooklynites. Right next door to another cool, more down to earth bar Happyfun Hideaway and a delicious late-night taco spot.

A great place to dance. Amazing djs every weekend but the line gets long so go early if you want to get in on a Friday/Saturday!

A famous pizza spot! The wait can get up to 2 or 3 hours so take my advice and do this local trick if you want pizza during the dinner rush--Roberta's has a take-out spot right next door where you can get the same delicious pizza in 20 minutes. Go there and order your pie and then take it into Roberta's tiki bar and eat it on the picnic tables while enjoying a drink. Same goods, much faster and cheaper!

My favorite date spot. This small farm-to-table Basque restaurant serves delicious high-end food and wine for Bushwick prices. The service is always great and the ambience is lovely.

I have heard this place described as a "rave cafeteria". It's the hippest new joint in Bushwick with It-girls and boys always littered around the technicolor dining room and the famous owner, Danny, usually bouncing around. The food is innovative but can be over-priced. Ask for my friend Leul and take his recommendations (and tip him well!) and you'll have a great meal.

There are L-Train Vintage spots all over Brooklyn and most of them are great but this one is right around many other good vintage spots so it's a good place to start. Very cheap prices and a huge selection.

The best kept secret in Bushwick! This place is a beautiful, high-ceiling warehouse in the art studio center of Bushwick that has been turned into a huge bar/restaurant with a movie theater in the back that plays second run or old movies for $4. Best part about it--the restaurant serves to the movie theater so you can eat and drink throughout the movie.
