Sightseeing
Eastham is classic Old Cape Cod. You can navigate the backroads and be oblivious to the crowds on Rte 6.
It's quiet and peaceful on the Bayside beaches but if you like a crowd and people watching, make sure you go over to the Oceanside.
The Visitor's Center on Rte 6 will give you a history of this magical peninsula. Walking trails will introduce you to many of the local flora and fauna.
The bike trail, with an entrance right in the neighborhood - almost at the end of Ireland Way (on the left), is perfect for capturing this part of the cape. Slow down or hop off your bike to swim in Depot Pond (watch for the tiny trail right off the path). Bike into Orleans and visit The Chocolate Sparrow for the best handmade candies, chocolates, coffee, and chai lattes anywhere. Head towards Wellfleet and end your trek at the Boulangerie where you'll taste mouth-watering French pastries. Or use the bike path as your walking/running trail. Dogs are welcome, on-leash. If you head right, you'll come out behind the house and see if across the marsh. This way leads to Orleans. Go left and head to Arnold's for fried clams, chowda, lobsters and Wellfleet. Arnold's had been there since I was a kid and it's a local favorite.

There is a strong current in the inner waterway. If you jump into the water on the left, it will quickly carry you down along the beach to the right while you float on your back. It's pretty fun. Hard to describe but check it out about an hour before high tide.
