Sightseeing
We love going to the hot springs in winter - when it's coldest! If you forgot to bring your swim trunks visit Walmart for a cheap pair, and bring a bottle of water to sip on in the springs. The restaurant food is very good, locally grown veges year round from geothermal greenhouses, and reasonably priced too! It's a scenic 1 hour drive away, you don't have to stay overnight to enjoy a dip in the Hot Springs.

Worth your time, take an hour or so to drop in and see unique presentations of Alaskan native culture. Did you know Inupiat's are the only Alaskan people with their own words in Webster's dictionary? That's how singularly unique their culture is.

Neighborhoods
The river walk downtown is worth your time. There is free parking in back of the court house, and by the Morris Thompson Cultural center. Be careful if you park in a metered space downtown - they aggressively patrol and ticket.
