Springhouse is a little cafe that is off the beaten path. I have been told their breakfast is great! We have personally only had their lunch and dinner, but we recommend them.

Sightseeing

To truly appreciate current river, I feel like Big Spring is a great place to go. It is beautiful and unbelievable the amount of water that continuously flows.

Though it is often crowded on the weekends, Rocky Falls is a beautiful place to visit and cool off in the water. If you’re able, climb up the rocks and enjoy the scenes at the top. Water doesn’t always flow, but if it has been rainy enough the fall is beautiful.

If you’re looking for something kid friendly to do that isn’t the river, Twin Pines is a great place. There is a little log cabin playhouse inside the visitor’s center with toys for the kids to play with. The bathrooms have always been clean, there are fishing poles and tackle to use to take the kids fishing at no cost, an old school house, and nice (short) walking trail near the pond.

Must Have River Items

Make sure you pack plenty of sunscreen. The sun bouncing off the river water can make your fun vacation a hot, miserable one real quick. You will also need river towels. Another MUST is a good pair of river shoes. Either sandals that securely fasten to your feet or fully closed shoes. The rocks get stuck in sandals with too big of holes, but not big enough that they just fall out. The river is fast and dangerous, so life jackets for anyone who isn’t a strong swimmer, but especially kids. Snacks and drinks of course. Just some helpful tips.
