Must carry water with you at all times

Our dry weather very quickly will dehydrate you without you noticing until you are already not feeling too great. Hydrate before, during, and after being outdoors.

Wear a hat or use sunblock

The uv is quite intense here in Tucson so protect your skin by wearing a hat or using sunblock.

Hikers be cautious when in desert wilderness.

Our desert is home to beautiful snakes some of which are rattlers that blend into their environment very well. Stay on cleared paths and know they tend to come out at dusk and dawn to cool off.

Avoid walking bare feet

The desert is home to critters like scorpions, spiders, and ants. As much as walking bare feet can feel wonderful, it is a safer practice to always wear shoes on your feet. Although you are likely to never step on a critter, there are always cactus thorns carried around by wind to avoid!

In summertime, door handles do get HOT!

Be careful when opening door handles made from metal as the sun can really heat them up in the afternoons.
