We like to browse around on Main Street whenever we visit Highlands. There are some really fun stores and plenty of places to stop for a bite or a drink.

This is the best ugly grocery store. It's dated and old but they have a decent wine selection and some delicious options for cooking in.

Mirror Lake is just a short walk from our house and is a great place to get out in a canoe. Or for trying your luck at fishing.

We love the bar at the Old Edwards Inn and also the 465 Grill which has tasty wood-fired pizza. The spa at Old Edwards is also great but they obviously give priority to their hotel guests, so it can be difficult to get an appointment. Always worth a try though

There are several beautiful hikes around Highlands - some you can take straight from the house and others that will require a little drive. We have a book in the house of area hikes, their difficulty level and distance. Make sure to take water and a bear bell :)
