Sightseeing

Smith Rock is well known as the birthplace of modern sport climbing. It can get very crowded in the summer. I recommend showing up early on a weekday morning to beat the crowds. And bring water, there are no entirely flat trails at Smith.

The alpacas are adorable. In the spring, you can see awkward babies running around and rolling in the grass. But beware, some of them spit just like llamas. From personal experience, I recommend backing up a few steps once the food in your hand runs out.

It's a few hours from Terrebonne, but well worth the drive. The colors pop on overcast days, which works out well, because there are incredibly few trees. Stay on trails and boardwalks, those beautiful soils are incredibly fragile.
