Letchmi HILLS RIDGE TREK
This trek is the perfect blend of trekking through the tea plantations and pristine grasslands that are native to the peaks of the Southern Western Ghats. Once you reach the hilltop grasslands, the trek continues along the ridge offering phenomenal views of the Munnar landscape. On a clear day, you can also catch sight of 'Anaimudi' - the highest peak in South India. This trek route is not circular due to lack of accessibility from the other side and therefore ascent and descent will be through the same route. The factory at Kolukkumalai was set up in the early 1930s' still follows the orthodox, traditional way of processing tea. A visit to the factory is indeed a journey through time; the machinery used in the factory is from the colonial era. Kolukkumalai situated 32 km from Munnar is accessible from the nearest town through offbeat, rugged roads which are accessible only by jeeps providing you the perfect off-roading experience. You also have the option to walk through the rows of tea to reach the factory or you could walk part of the way and take the jeep for the rest.
