Food scene
Don't let the outside appearance influence your decision. This place is owned by a husband and wife. Nim does the cooking and her husband, Mark, runs the dining area. You will enjoy the best Thai food in town and if you prod Mark he can indulge you with some colorful conversation. We recommend asking for the "Nuttaya Special", it is name for a special Thai dish that our Thai friend orders and we don't know how to say it so Josh named it after her. Don't forget to ask for the fried egg on top, delicious!

Inclement Weather
Be prepared for any weather. In the summer time it could be warm, sunny and 80° one minute and 45° and rain in less than an hour. Warm rain showers aren’t a reality in Fairbanks. Winter has similar climate swings, it’s not uncommon to experience temperatures around 0° only for the temperature to drop 20-40 degrees. There is a great clothing outfitter company here in Alaska, you can rent winter gear for our extreme cold temperatures. Their website is akarcticwear.com.

Getting Around
Rental cars are going to provide you with the most flexibility and ease of getting around. Uber and Lyft have been very inconsistent. We do have taxis that are fairly reliable. If your trip is during the winter months we recommend an AWD or 4WD vehicle. Aside from the usual rental companies located at the airport, Alaska Auto Rentals has great service. They will also arrange for you to pick up your vehicle at the airport or other locations after hours. Turo is also popular here. Don’t hesitate to ask us for recommendations.
