As with all cities, Cape Town is busy and vibrant. The people are friendly and happy and willing to help - however, be aware of pick-pockets who can spot a tourist a mile away - little kids whistle to each other when spotting a soft-target - keep your bags close to your body and preferably in front of you (do not wear backpacks on your back because they will open the zips and steal the contents!) - Just be aware of your surroundings and if in doubt, go into your nearest hotel lobby or shop and ask for assistance.
