If your visiting Ottawa, you must have a look at the Parliment. I suggest walking around it, there are cool statues all around it. Every night in the summer there are light shows on the Parliment.

Beautiful Park to relax, walk around and get a nice view of the Ottawa river. You can walk around the park down to the dams as well.

The Canal goes down to Dow's lake where in the summer you can rent Kayaks, Canoes, and Stand-up Paddle boards and tour the lake
