Maytinis

Maytinis is a grand colorful procession/parade of floats depicting biblical characters leading up to the birth of Baby Jesus. It starts in the early evening of Dec. 24 passing around the barangay streets and ending at the giant Belen at the altar of the church
Historical landmark you shouldn't miss. It is where the Philippine Independence was declared. The shrine and mansion was the residence of Gen. EmiIio Aguinaldo and is now an air-conditioned museum with a tour guide(museum tour is free, but guide tips are welcome)You can request to access the tower, climbing the original steep stairs and see the 360 degree view of the province of Cavite. It is open to the public daily except Monday.

July 2024 is the 400th year of our church, so lots of cultural activities are scheduled like the Karakol sa Dagat on July6; Prusisyon ng mga Replica ng Sta.Maria Magdalena on July 11; Karakol Dance Competition o July 20, Karakol ng Bayan on July 21 and our Town Fiesta on July 22 followed by a grand procession at 7pm. The whole month of December or Christmas season is also a good time to visit Kawit when the town's streets are lit and decorated. Both the exterior and interior of church are embellished with Christmas lights and decor, including a large Belen at the altar. The best tasting bibingka and puto bumbong are sold along our barangay street, Gahak.
