Some of my favorite places to eat.
Bobby's has excellent food and super friendly employees. Often you will see Bobby and his sister Rena pitch in serving food or drinks. We personally love the atmosphere, you are not just a guest but a guest in their home. Oh, and let's not forget the heated arm rests at the bar, especially during the winter months, they will get your hands nice and toasty!

Ivan and his crew have made The Crepery a must visit eatery in Fairbanks. Everything is made fresh and delicious. Savory, sweet, and breakfast crepes, their menu selection has at least tripled since they started several years ago. Often the line is out the door. During summer they have outdoor seating as well.

East Ramp Wood Fired Pizza has excellent pizza with delicious fresh topping, and weekly specials. You will find them on the other side of the airport, under the Air Traffic Control tower. Besides the delicious pizzas and appetizers, there is also an incredible view of the runway. The cruises are an experience you will never forget! Enjoy the serenity and magnitude, at the same time, of the glaciers and listen for the creaking and cracking when they are about to calf. Don't forget to take a lot of pictures!
My recommendation: Dress warm, in layers, and get a seat inside. Close to the glacier the temperatures drop significantly.

It is a 4.5 hour drive to the Arctic Circle. I recommend to sign up with a tour company to go there. Most car rental agencies do not permit driving the Dalton Highway.

Dress in layers
Alaska can be cold and can be hot. Depending on the time of year. But I have seen snow in June!
For summers bring light clothing, a mix of short and long sleeves. A light jacket and good walking shoes.
If you plan on going to Valdez on a sightseeing cruise, bring a warm jacket with a hood and pockets (to keep hands warm). It does get very chilly so close to the glacier!
Denali trip? Dress warm! The mountains can be very cool.
Making an outing to the Chena Hot Springs? Bring your bathing suit and a towel.
Above all, dress in layers.

Friendly Alaskans
Alaskans are very friendly people. Especially shopkeepers might ask you where you are from and what your plans are. They will give you tips and advice on places of interest. And most of all, every Alaskan has a story to tell about how they ended up in Alaska!
