The Muskegon River runs south-west from northern Michigan and empties into Lake Michigan at the pier, about 2 miles north of the lake house. The Muskegon is home to world class fishing, including brown, brook & rainbow trouts (steelhead) as well as a chinook (king salmon) run in the fall and the occasional lake sturgeon. The best fishing is about an hour away, between the town of Newaygo and the Croton dam. There's a great fly shop in Newaygo that can help you with any questions.

Dune Harbor park is brand new and directly in your back yard. The hike around the south lake is fantastic. You can enter just past the dumpsters on the dirt road.
